Monopoly – the Property Trading Game

One of my favorite board game since young is Monopoly, also known as the “Fast-dealing Property Trading Game”.

Having named “monopoly”, the goal of the game is for the player to exploit as many properties of the same markets (marked by color) and to lead the opponents into bankruptcy. Dealing and trading of the different real estate properties such as houses, hotels and landmarks is also related to how you manage your financial flow.

What I love about this game is its strategic and competitive approach which also depends on luck and decision making. I like the idea of having to negotiate and compromise your wills but at the same time using your own wit to outplay the game. The game never fails to entertain me until this age.

The same concepts apply in the real world. When you can monopolize something, you win and everyone else needs to put money into your pocket.

On a separate note, monopoly can be defined in many way:

“In economics, a monopoly is a single seller. In law, a monopoly is a business entity that has significant market power, that is, the power to charge high prices.” – Wikipedia.

This is just my personal insights of what is beautiful, smart or hot in today’s fashion trend. I also wrote on my personal views on what I like and what I dislike to wear.

I am not a fashionista in any way but I love to keep my trend up-to-date with my peers. My favorite brands at the moment are Forever21, H&M, Zara, Jaspal, etc. These brands are middle-class brands accessible in many shopping malls and are targeted for teenagers. Actually, I don’t stick to one brand. I choose my clothing depending on good fashion sense and quality.

I am 5’4” tall and weigh 110 lb. So, I usually go for medium size clothing. I like t-shirts, jeans, dresses and shorts. I like clothes that showcase the body curves, which I think is the hottest part of a girl’s body. Some tight plain t-shirts can even go well with jeans. For dresses, I like both long and short depending on the occasion I need to attend. Oh, I am also a crazy fan of back-showing dresses.
For casual style, I am into top crops mostly. The top crops can help you look younger and slimmer. Sometimes, the zig zag patterns can be very attractive but even the plain top crops or flower pattern can look simply beautiful too. The high waist shorts are also one of my favorites. It displays the shape of your legs and butts, not to mention that it also makes you look taller. Top crops and high waist shorts can go very well together.

In term of colors, now pale colors are into trend again. I personally like turquoise, white, coral pink or dark blue. I think these colors add on to my complexion more.
One of the in-trend fashions in Thailand now is the two-layered skirts or pants with the short skirt on the inside covered by a transparent long skirt on the outside. I think these are particularly attractive for fit girls since it exposes just a portion of your legs and make it look sexier. These skirts go well with top crops that come in different style and material. However, this outfit fit better with 4” high heels rather than a flip flop.

Starting to be an entrepreneur…

I want to set up a small online business that I can manage during my spare times after work and on weekends. My idea is very simple – Do what you love, love what you do! Personally, I love clothes and fashions. I love shopping, dressing up, making over & taking pictures ever since I remember! These are my hardcore activities that I never get bored of. So I thought to myself why don’t I set up a fashion shop?

I am planning to set up an online clothing shop to sell for teenagers in Myanmar. The fashion of Myanmar youngsters is very similar to that of Thais except for the fact that the trends arrive a little later than that in Thailand. My objective is to close this gap by selling the latest clothing as soon as they are available in Thailand.

In Myanmar, there’s no open-air bazaar or night market like Chatuchak or Victory Monument in Thailand. People are used to buying clothes in shopping malls and plazas. As a result of this, the prices are mucg higher due to the shop rental fees, electricity and tax. By setting up an online shop, the cost is expected to be much cheaper and the fashion trends can arrive to Myanmar even much sooner.

Step 1 – Facebook Fan page

First of all, I need a Facebook fan page to promote my online shop. I want to target at teens between 18 to 25, living in Myanmar. There is a very high usage of Facebook in Myanmar and the majority of users are teenagers, which fits well to my target group. In the fan page, I will expose the fans to what are the latest trends in Bangkok and what they think of the newbies.

Step 2 – Sourcing out for supplier

I am still working on finding a supplier for my store. I want to contact the factory outlets in Thailand that can provide with a wholesale price.
Another option to make a pre-order shop, which means I would not have to stock the material and can reduce the investment cost.

Step 3 – Preparing catalogue and in-stock clothing

I will prepare a list of clothing I want to sell with specifications such as size, color and design. Mostly, I want to sell casual clothing with reasonable pricing. It may include t-shirt, tops, blouse, skirts, shorts and jeans. The quality should be double checked before buying each item.

This is just my draft plan of setting up a virtual fashion store. Next time, I will write a more detailed idea and procedure.

First Session for my SEO writing

Hello, my name is Yadanar. I would like to become a Qualified SEO Journalist one day. Currently, I am starting to explore on how to write in an effective manner so that it benefits both the search engine and the readers.

SEO writing start-up kit

Hello, my name is Yadanar. I am not a professional writer for now but one of my goal is to become a Qualified SEO Journalist one day. I got introduced to SEO a few years ago by a friend of mine. At first, I found it to be a boring topic until I witness its value through his experience. I don’t know much about the technical tools of SEO so I am focusing on the content alone. I am starting to learn how to write online and how to expose my writings on the search engine. The important thing is to write effectively and efficiently so that it benefits both the search engine and the readers of the blog.
I have created my personal blog named Ticktactoe and I am trying to update the contents on a daily basis to keep the blog active. Ticktactoe is formed in the wordpress platform which I think is much more convenient compared to blogspot and flexible in terms of theme selection. In order to improve the quality of my blog, I am taking the following measurements as a beginner in web writing.

Step 1 – Analyzing SEO writing

I will conduct a research on how search engine works with text in HTML or webpages. This will help me to understand how the web pages are ranked and how they are matched with a specific keyword or topic. By doing so, I will also understand how to gain exposure from traffic when search queries are being made.

Step Two – Improve my technical writing skills

I am in no way a professional writer. I need to improve my writing skills to a level that I can become a good blogger. In general, I need to work on some story telling skills and wider range of vocabulary and sentence structure. However, the key to writing online may be different on that to writing on hardcopy. So here is what I need to review on:

1. Content

For content improving strategies, I will refer to a book by Michael Miller called the “Web Words That Work”. As the name suggests, the books helps you on captivating the web readers within a few seconds or minutes. It is mainly focused on web copywriting so it might not work perfectly with other kinds of writing. I think it’s a great book because I find many shortcuts in there and it’s very simple that everyone even with no writing experience can follow.

2. Writing Style

Since the style and structure of the writing is as important as the content itself, we need to emphasize on how to present our information, insights, knowledge, experience, etc. I would learn this factor from the book “How to Write” by Sandra E. Lamb, who is an award winning journalist and a writing teacher. This book can be implied for any kind of writings from cover letters to press releases. This book is more general than the first one but can be useful for different people including bloggers like me, students, authors and even managers.

SEO writing is fun and rewarding. We have a small team that focuses on natural but rich content without any spamming involved. It is interesting to develop our own SEO community with people who loves to write such as journalists and bloggers. We can gather our knowledge and experience to create high quality contents. We are also happy to share this useful technique to you all.

I have just started about 2-3 months as a hobby in my free time. Therefore, it have little progress for now since I am full-time employed. But I am working on creating a fixed schedule to work every night to develop my site into a high performance SEO page.

Pay less but get more

How can we save our leisure budget but get the best out of it?

Are you planning to go on a relaxing trip but have a limited budget? Do you want to celebrate your anniversary dinner with your loved ones but don’t want to overspend your salary in the economic downturn? Are you looking for a luxury hotel to spend your upcoming holiday? Then, this is the right blog for you. Here, I am going to provide you good tips on how to find a good deal for yourself.

1. FindING good deal sites on the web

There are many sites that have made great discount deals with many restaurants and hotels in your local area and all you need to do is to find them on the web. These discount deals are usable under conditions written on the voucher and on specific dates. So make sure that the available dates match your schedule. The best deals are sometimes made with five star hotels and restaurant which lets you have a decent meal or a romantic trip that is within your budget but above your expectations.

However, one disadvantage of these deals may be that many of them cannot be used on the holiday seasons or peak days such as Friday or Saturday. But if you schedule is flexible enough, you shouldn’t miss out on it and it’s always worth the time to look at the sites before you pay the original price!
Here are some discount sites for Bangkok which I have gathered:

  • Ensogo
  • My Groupon
  • Thai City Deals
  • YesIJoin

And here are the sample vouchers:

Discount deal at Ensogo voucher Discount deal voucher at groupon

The deals are easy to buy online with an online debit or credit card and the coupons are delivered to your email. But you do need to register membership on these discount website before buying them, which is also free of charge.

2. Booking in advance

The airlines always make promotions once a year as one of their marketing strategies and competition against other airline. So you need to check out those promotion deals by subscribing newsletter to your favorite airline. By doing so, they would send you an email where there is a deal and these deals usually need to be booked months or even years in advance. But the reward of doing this is a great save-up on your budget for better accommodation, souvenirs, and so on. So this can be great tip for your plan.

3,4 and 5 to be continued

This is just a part of the useful tips for saving your budget on leisure activities by finding great deals and discount coupons on the web. In my next blog, I will continue about the tips on how to save your budget but still get what you want.

Five-star International Buffet & Sky Bar – Centara Grande Hotel at Central World

For a romantic dinner with the dim lights of metropolis Bangkok, one should visit The World Restaurant on the 24th floor of Centara Grande Hotel. The food was great and the variety of dishes was quite appealing to me.

Romantic dinner at a five star hotel

For a romantic dinner with the dim lights of metropolis Bangkok, one should visit The World Restaurant on the 24th floor of Centara Grande Hotel.

girl with light blue green dress at dinnerThe food was great and the variety of dishes was quite appealing to me. The dinner is served in seven different themes across the week. As I went there on a Friday night, I was served with the Wagyu Night theme, which is a specialty for prime rib, steaks, sausages and carpaccio burger from Australian Wagyu. For a price of 1,955++ Baht, I must say the food were almost up to expectation and besides there is a promotion now that you can pay one price but eat from both the two classy restaurants – Ginger & The World – which is right next to each other. However, more luckily, I got a good deal at Groupon for this buffet at a price of 1,200 Baht (including Vat), which I thought was an experience worthwhile.

Upon reservation, we were seated near the window. However, the view wasn’t so impressive since the light inside the restaurant wasn’t designed for the view. But the customer service there was satisfactory. When we asked the waiter if we could change table elsewhere since it was a bit noisy with the kids in the area, the manager came to help us choose the new table. In comparison to the Ginger restaurant next door, the World restaurant didn’t look as decent as the former but it does have better variety of food, in my opinion.

Variety of Food around the World

Big Prawn with Seafood Sauce and Salmon with Lobster Sauce

The World restaurant served a line of international food from bread and pepperoni to fresh seafood, prime rib, Indian Nan and Somtum. The ham served was of imported quality and there was also a variety of bread provided from baguette to bread roll. Next is the seafood section lined with seafood on ice, ranging from New Zealand mussel to oysters and prawns. We were quite disappointed to see that crab or lobster was not served on the day. Regarding of the quality of the seafood especially the oyster, the smell wasn’t as fresh as expected, however the taste was quite good and it did not upset any of our stomachs. The other favorite dish of mine was the prawn dipped in Thai seafood sauce (green chilli). The Indian food was great too. I love the Aloo Masala. I did try the spaghetti with Bolognese sauce there and it was more delightful than any other spaghetti in town. I did not try much from the Thai section of the buffet since I thought there is much better thing to take from a five star buffet than somtum. But I did try the Nam Pric Ong (chilli and tomato paste with minced pork) which happens to be my favorite Thai dish, with boiled vegetables and it was delicious.

Sweet cake and pudding at The World BuffetThe dessert line was attractive too. There is a variety of cakes, fruit cakes and chocolate dip-ins and the taste was superb! I am sure the sweet-lovers wouldn’t be able to move away from the counter.

Ginger Restaurant

Salmon, octopus and tuna at the world restaurant buffet

Since the current promotion allows us to take food from both Ginger & The World restaurants, we looked around in the Ginger too. The restaurant looked more pleasant but the buffet line wasn’t so interesting for us. They served a few chinese dimsum, noddles and soups. I did try the soup but it wasn’t so tasty. The next counter by the corner is the sushi bar serving sashimi, salmon, tuna, etc. The Japanese food there was not bad and fresh in quality. After we took a few plates of sushi, we headed back to the World, where it had a variety of authentic food.

The buffet includes a free flow of sommeliers selected wines, which I think is of good quality. Water or drinks are not included in the buffet and water is charged at a price of 36 B per bottle, which I think is reasonable too.

Red Sky Bar – a romantic night out with live music

blue green dress on red sky barAfter a full meal of buffet, we wanted to see real skyline of Bangkok on the 55th floor of Centara Grande. So we took a lift to the Red Sky Bar, which is one of the must-see places in Bangkok. It is an open-air deck with two levels and the read-colored seats were placed around the high glass railing. My night was complete with the 360 degree view of the city, even though the building is less taller than many skyscrapers in Bangkok.

The drinks were served together a bowl of salted peanuts. My boyfriend and I had a cocktail each (mine being Ginger Berry and his Sexy Kiwi) and both tasted pretty well for a price of 390+ B each. The environment there was relaxing and romantic with some middle aged foreigners and thai women. It’s a perfect place for the couples to hang out. The live music was on when we went around 11pm and spend an hour there, ending my birthday dinner with Eric Clapton’s song “Wonderful Tonight” on the skyline of the metropolitan city.

Overall, I think it was a wonderful experience that a five star hotel like Centara Grande had to offer and the prices were reasonable with the quality of food and environments they have provided. I will definitely visit the Red Sky Bar again during the evening to have a better top view of the entire inner Bangkok city.
