Ecommerce SEO is something different from blog website SEO. Actually all different websites require different SEO strategies.

In this article I am sharing my SEO strategy for e-commerce website.

Like all other website’s SEO, e-commerce SEO also has 3 parts:

  • On Page SEO
  • Technical SEO
  • Off Page SEO

On Page SEO for Ecommerce Website

On page SEO for e-commerce website divides into 3 basic parts:

  • Keywords
  • Products description
  • Product gallery
  • Meta Description

Keywords

The most important part of on-page SEO for an e-commerce website is a keyword search. The keywords for blog and e-commerce are not the same.

For example:

Your product is a t-shirt.  For this product, your keyword should be specific. Add your product material to your keyword. If your product material is 100% cotton, your keyword should be 100% cotton t-shirt.

Now add the target group to your keyword. If your target group is ladies, then your keyword should be 100% cotton women’s t-shirt.

Now check the t-shirt specification. Is it short sleeve or long sleeve, round neck or “V” neck, fancy or casual?

Say, your product is short sleeve, round neck and fancy t-shirt.

Now add the specification to your keyword. So, your keyword should be “100% cotton short sleeve round neck fancy women’s t-shirt” 

In e-commerce, SEO keywords should be long tail so that consumers can get an idea about the products.

Product Description

The product description is another important part of on-page SEO for an e-commerce website. You can’t write a big story like a blog website, in the product description part of an e-commerce website.

You should write product descriptions as much as elaborate as you can. Naturally, an e-commerce product description contains 200 to 300 words. It is also ok if your description words are less than 200 words.

For Example:

You are selling t-shirt. Here, what should be your product description?

Write about your product material, weight, design, size range, available colors, targeted customers, comfort, etc.

You can add a FAQ section here.

Product Gallery

In the e-commerce SEO, product gallery plays a vital role in getting traffic engagement.  

For example:

You are selling a t-shirt. Now whatever colors and sizes you have in a design, you should display all those images in your product gallery. 

Meta Description

Ecommerce Meta description should represent your product. Write a short description of why people should buy your product within 150 characters.

Technical SEO

In the technical part of ecommerce SEO contains the followings:

  • Page load speed
  • Mobile friendly
  • Voice search compatible
  • Consumer’s review

Page Load Speed

Page load speed is a very important part of e-commerce SEO.  The online platform is such a type of area where consumers have a lot of options to buy products. So, if your page takes few milliseconds than other websites, consumers will jump to those websites.

So, you should maintain a good page load speed.  Your hosting can play a vital role in maintaining a good page load speed.

Ecommerce websites use a lot of product images. That is why all of your product images should be properly optimized. If your product range is very big and you are using a very space for your images, then my suggestion is to use different hosting for images.

If you use one hosting for your website and different hosting for your product images, then it will never be slowdown for image size.

Mobile Friendly

Your e-commerce website should be mobile friendly as most of the people now using mobile for searching their requirement in the search engines.

You can use AMP plugin for making your website mobile friendly.

There is another smart option for making your e-commerce website popular with its consumers.

You can convert your website into a mobile app. Converting a website into a mobile app is not very costly and very easy to use.

When your consumers will find your website into an app they will be happy to use it and your ranking will increase.

Voice Search Compatible
