I’m not going to go on record as saying affirmations area waste of time, but I think that time could be spent in better ways.  “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darnnit, people like me.” There’s only so much mileage you’re going to get out of saying things to yourself like that. Not only that, when you’re doing it, it takes you out of the moment and puts the focus on you. You want to do just the opposite; you want to take the focus off of and outside of yourself. Think about when you were a kid watching The Wizard of Oz – you were totally immersed in it and not focused on yourself. That’s the state you want to try to get to, not the self evaluating state; “lets see my anxiety just went up, now it went down, now I’m feeling fearful, Charles you’re not fearful.” It becomes something just in your head.
