If you are like me and have a crazy sweet tooth, specifically for chocolate, then you need to try this recipe out. I made it a little while ago and it was a huge hit with my family. It is made with dark chocolate, orange and sliced almonds (you can easily substitute the orange and almonds for something else). YUM! It is perfect to keep in your fridge for when that nasty sweet tooth hits. It took me about 20 minutes to make this recipe and it made one full pans worth of chocolate bark. It is great because the dark chocolate really fulfills that craving without causing you to overeat since it is so rich.
2 Bags of Chipits Dark Chocolate (you could do one bag for a smaller portion)
Orange (any kind you prefer, blood orange would be disgustingly good)
STEP 1: First you will need to grab a cookie tray, I used a large one since I made a big portion of chocolate. You could use a small tray and only one bag of chocolate chips for a small portion. You will need to line the try with tin foil.
STEP 2: You will then need to peel your orange. For this recipe I used 3 slices of orange but I would use more next time. I think about 3 slices of orange per pack of chocolate chips. So in our case, that is 6 slices. Once you have your 6 slices of orange, you need to cut the skin off so that you only have the beads of orange that are inside each slice. Then spread the beads of orange across the tray evenly.
STEP 3: Then take your sliced almonds (or any other kind of nut) and spread those evenly across the bottom of the pan.
STEP 4: You will then want to melt the chocolate, which I did in the microwave. I did one bag at a time, I dumped the bag into a microwave safe bowl and put one small spoonful of coconut oil in the bowl as well. Then I set the microwave for 45 seconds and took it out and stirred, then continued microwaving for 30 seconds at a time until the chocolate was fully melted and smooth.
STEP 5: Pour the melted chocolate evenly over the almond and orange mixture. I then topped it off with sliced almonds just to make it look pretty.
STEP 6: Put the tray in the freezer for about 15 minutes to harden then mix. Once it is hardened just break it up into pieces and you are done!
It is that simple. There are so many other combinations you could do with this as well and it is a fun recipe to make with the kiddos too! Why buy fancy chocolates at the store when you can easily make your own!

I realize I have posted a lot about negativity and positivity lately. But it is because as I am growing older, I am learning just how much of an impact both have on our lives. I am not a professional, but I am learning so much about how to control it and how much it affects our overall life, so I want to share my ideas and advice with anyone who is willing to listen. I have been talking about it a lot not only on my blog, but in my day to day life with my family and friends.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, things in my life have been difficult and stressful this past year with so much going on and so much to get done. I have found it very easy to fall into that negative mindset and let other people’s negativity impact my life because I feel that I am at a very vulnerable time in my life. As my life is starting to finally fall into place and I am learning to deal with tough situations with a positive attitude, I am realizing some of the things that are bringing me down.
A situation in my life recently really opened up my eyes to some of the toxic things in my life. I hadn’t had a very good day, I had a tough discussion with my significant other which had upset me and after this discussion I hung out with someone close to me. It was obvious that I had been upset so they asked me what was wrong. I didn’t want to explain the whole situation so I said that life has just been really hard lately and I was having a hard time balancing everything. To this they told me, “If you think life gets easier from here then you’re dreaming, it will only get harder” and I thought to myself well life may always have its hard moments but there is always something to feel happy and positive about. There was more to this conversation which I will not get into, but in the end It really made me realize how much a negative person can bring you down. It felt like they were feeding more negativity to me which in the end made me feel worse then before. It was almost an immediate feeling for me, where I just knew I needed to dial back my relationship with this person as this moment of negativity hadn’t been the first, second or third time it had happened.
I vowed to myself to never make someone feel this way during a difficult time in their life. I want to empower people and make them feel positive and see the positives in their life. Would I want to be around someone sucking the energy out of me and making me feel negative and bitter? NO, of course I wouldn’t. In a way, this is a POSITIVE outcome from a NEGATIVE situation.
People going through difficult times need support and positivity from people close to them. I have thought about that conversation I had with this person a lot lately because it just opened my eyes SO much to how I DON’T want to live my life that way. I want to focus on the beauty in life and the lessons learned from tough situations. I have so much to look forward to and so many other things in my life that make me happy. I have to realize those things before letting myself spiral into the negativity. It is so important to cut out negativity where possible from your life, or find a way to not let the negativity affect you.
I understand that sometimes you just can’t cut negativity out of your life, but these negative experiences are what helps us to appreciate the good. Find the positivity in life and build on that. Cut out as much negative as you can and surround yourself with positive people as well as try your hardest to be that positive person. If you can give it out to people then you will attract better people into your life and build from that. I hope this experience can help someone to pull themselves out of a rut or start taking the proper steps to a happier, healthier more POSITIVE life. Have I said positivity and negativity enough yet?
I want everyone to take a couple minutes today to write down a list of everything in their life that makes them happy or they are thankful for. If you can’t write it then in the very least just think about it. AS A BONUS, send someone a message (whether it be by text, phone call, card or note) about how much you appreciate them.

Every year for Christmas, my Dad makes up these $10 bags for each of us. He tries to get AS MUCH bang for his buck, meaning he tries to get as much inexpensive or free stuff to put in these bags. Now that may include some free calendars, a case of pop, free pens, kleenex, etc. I know that may not sound all that exciting, but it’s always so much fun getting these bags every year and seeing what kind of silly things he found to put in the bags that year. Well this year for me, he put a little envelope with $4.50 in it with a note saying ‘Legacy Auction Gift Certificate’ (the auction we go to does not do gift cards so he made his own). He needed $4.50 worth of stuff in my bag so he decided to give it to me as a made up gift certificate.
His challenge to me was to see how much I could make that $4.50 grow. I obviously said challenge accepted! We go to auctions almost every Sunday together and purchase items to resell to make a little bit of profit for ourselves, so I will be keeping the $4.50 aside and in it’s own little fund and try and grow it as much as I can. I am really excited for this challenge! I am going to start out small and purchase a few lots at the auction of smaller things that I can buy for $1.00 or $2.00 but can turn around and sell for anywhere from $5.00 to $10.00 to start growing it at a smaller rate. I think the key to success here will be not getting too money hungry and impatient. I don’t want to try and make hundreds super quick, but just slowly watch the pot grow. Once it grows bigger, then I could purchase a larger item and start building the profit at a larger rate.
I am going to follow my progress on this challenge by posting a challenge update blog every few weeks to track my journey, as well as explain what I did to turn this small change into profit. With how our economy has been lately and has created a bit of a financial scare for some people, I hope this shows people what they can do with only a small amount of money to invest. With this challenge, I am hoping to teach you tips and tricks to growing your money!

Okay, so maybeee that title is a touch arrogant but I do get a lot and I mean A LOT of comments on my hair on a regular basis. My friends and family are constantly saying how jealous they are of my long hair so I thought I would do a breakdown of my hair care routine for everyone. Now I am not saying that this hair care routine will be best for everyone because everyone has different types of hair. I have dry, thick, colour treated, frizzy hair. This is just the routine that has been working for me, so if you have similar hair to me then maybe some of the things in my routine will work for you.
Since I have dry hair, I do not wash my hair everyday or even every other day. I only wash my hair once or twice a week, which some people may think is gross but this is what works for me. The more I wash my hair, the more dry and frizzy it gets. I like to let my natural oils get in my hair because it keeps it looking healthier. When I do wash my hair, I have really been enjoying the TRESemme Keratin Smooth collection as well as the Split Remedy collection shampoos and conditioners. They are inexpensive (since this gal is on a BUDGET!) and they work just as good as higher end products. In my opinion at least. When I am feeling fancy and wanting to splurge I usually go for the 12 second miracle shampoo and conditioner by Marc Anthony. It is kind of expensive so I don’t buy it often, but if I see it on sale I buy that shit upppp. It’s such a great product and makes my hair so soft and smooth.
I always make sure that when I am applying shampoo to my hair that I give my scalp a nice, long massage as well. Which may sound kind of silly, but it feels really good since my hair tends to be very heavy on my scalp and it ensures that I have cleaned all the build up in my hair as well. When I condition my hair, I use a brush in the shower to smooth the conditioner over every strand of hair. Then I let it sit in my hair for about 3-5 minutes while I shave my legs and then rinse it out.
Once I have washed and conditioned my hair (which I usually do in the evening) I will let my hair air dry a bit until it is just slightly damp. Then right before I head to bed I use about 3 pumps of the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Protector and work it into my hair from the roots to the tips. I was skeptical about this product before I bought it so I got a sample of this from my local Sephora and I immediately went online after and ordered it. That’s how much I like this product. And no, I am not sponsored by Living Proof, I’d love to be but I’m not. My hair looks shinier in the morning and feels very soft and smooth. I also find my hair styles better after I have used this. It doesn’t feel heavy in your hair and doesn’t have a weird smell, it smells very fresh and clean.
I very rarely blow dry my hair because it damages my hair so much and makes it really poofy. I try to avoid it as much as I can to keep my hair looking its best. I do, however, straighten my hair on occasion but I try to make the straight hair work for me for a few days. I probably straighten my hair about once a week. I never straighten my hair without product in it. I like using argan oil on my hair before I straighten to help protect my hair from any heat damage. I have tried many different brands of argan oil and find them all to work the same, so I do not have a preference in brand.
HONESTLY, I do not brush my hair as often as I probably should because brushing my hair makes me hair very fluffy which I HATE. I brush my hair about every other night before I go to bed because I find sleeping on the brushed hair tames it down a bit so it isn’t as fluffy by morning. I do massage my scalp pretty much every day and the end of the day where I run my fingers through my hair and really massage my head because it feels good and I feel like it really stimulates the roots and helps my hair grow (I am not an expert so this could just be in my head *pun intended*).
About once or twice a month I like to do a hair mask just to keep my hair healthy and shiny. When I am ready to wash my hair, I will slather my hair with coconut oil and then pin my hair up in a bun and let the coconut oil soak into my hair. I usually let it sit for about an hour or two and then wash it out with shampoo. I find that my hair is so smooth after doing this and my hair looks its healthiest.
Almost every single day no matter how I have styled my hair that day, I always finish it off with a dry oil misted over my hair. My favourite one lately has been the Renewing Argan oil of Morocco weightless healing dry oil by Organix. It smells yummy and tropical.
That pretty much sums everything up for my hair care routine! My hair may be long and people always say how much they love it, but it takes A LOT of work to keep it looking this way. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me and I would be happy to respond as best I can! I hope you all can take something from this post to help in your hair care routine!

Now I know I am not the only person who often finds themselves feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. It is so easy to find yourself in this hole of negativity and stress, but it isn’t always easy finding your way back out. I get it, I have been there many MANY times. I am not here today to complain about my personal problems, I am here to give you all some insight as to what I find helps me to relax and let go of stress. This isn’t a routine I practice all the time, but now that it is 2018 it is my goal to incorporate this into my routine a lot more to keep stress and negativity at bay.
The VERY first thing I like to do is make sure I am either alone or in a quiet space with no distractions, then I like to throw on something comfortable that I feel good in. I also give myself a spritz of my favourite perfume (Daisy by Marc Jacobs) because why not!
I then like to pick out some sort of face mask to put on before I jump into the speech and yoga. I really enjoy any of the masks by Origins but my favourite has to be the retexturizing mask with rose clay. It just makes my skin feel soooo soft. I leave it on the full half hour but they suggest to leave it on for ten minutes, so you can always pause the yoga and speech to rinse it if necessary.
My next step here is to get out my headphones and iphone and find a motivational speech to listen. I really enjoy Chalene Johnson, I keep a notebook and pen handy while I listen to her speeches because she often throws some really insightful things at you that I personally like to write down.
So now, once I have picked out a motivational speech, I search for a nice yoga session to do ( I look for one that is around the same time as the speech) but you could also do your own routine if you are a seasoned yogi. I have the yoga video opened up on either my TV or my laptop somewhere I can see it really well as I will not have the sound on. I usually enjoy any of the Yoga with Adriene videos, I usually choose something a little more mellow and less difficult as I want this to be a more relaxing experience.
Once I have everything ready I just press play on the speech and the yoga and jump right in. I like to really focus on my body and listen to what feels good and often find myself not going exactly along with the videos because I have found a position that feels good and spend the extra time on that spot.
This routine usually lasts me about a half hour and I love it because I feel so refreshed and peaceful. I like that I am getting a bit of a workout in as well because working out always makes me feel confident after. I like to end the routine with a nice warm shower or bath and play some of my favourite music. To some people this whole routine might seem a little too busy but since I am a busy person this routine just works for me, I like to cram as much positive stuff into this time. My goal during the routine is to not think about anything negative and focus on every little thing that feels good for me.
Obviously this routine might not be for everyone but it’s still worth a try! You have someone giving you positive advice and motivation in your ears, the perfume smells nice, the yoga makes your body feel good and then the bath and shower is soothing and relaxing. You could even make yourself a coffee or tea to drink along with this routine to make it even more relaxing.
I always feel my best after this routine, the speech always gives me hope that things will get better and I have the power to change my situation. It’s a very uplifting and positive routine that I would personally like to practice more often!
Please share this routine with anyone with a lot of stress in their life who needs a pick me up!
Stay positive and happy!

Any of you procrastinators out there who still need gifts for Christmas should definitely give this DIY coffee scrub a try! It’s super easy and quick to make PLUS most of the ingredients you can find in your home already!
This coffee scrub helps to remove any dead skin as well as helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The coconut oil in this scrub soaks into your skin while in the shower leaving it feeling so soft and smooth! I have personally been using this for a couple years now. I enjoy it more then the store bought ones and it’s less expensive as I usually have the ingredients laying around already.
So let’s start off with the ingredients!
Other items needed:
Step 1: I first started off by melting the coconut oil in the microwave. I microwaved it two cups at a time and put it in for 30 seconds at first and then stirred it and put it in for another 45 seconds to get it fully melted. You want it to be clear when its melted so it mixes easier. I made 4 jars of scrub and ended up using about 4 cups of coconut oil, so a cup of coconut oil in each jar.
Step 2: While your coconut oil is melting you can mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. I used 6 cups of coffee grounds to start and mixed it with a quarter cup of brown sugar. I sometimes end up adjusting the amounts to get the right scrub consistency that I want.
Combine the melted coconut oil and coffee sugar mix together. I find using a fork for this is best as it mixes the ingredients better. I ended up adding another extra small scoop of coffee at this point because I wanted a thicker consistency.
Then I added the mixture into the 4 mason jars using a small spoon so I don’t make a huge mess.
In each jar I put around 6 drops of vitamin e oil and 4 drops of tea tree oil. Then mixed each one up!
And that was it! Very easy and makes such a cute gift!
You can get your ingredients on amazon below:
I think this gift is one of those handmade gifts that people will actually use! Maybe I’m biased but I love these homemade scrubs soooo much more then anything bought in the store and I know EXACTLY what is in it.
If you enjoy this DIY coffee scrub please give this post a thumbs up and share it with your friends! Keep your eye out in the New Year as I will be doing a giveaway!
