Back To The Beginning

An update post about the last two months of my life. Alright, I know it's been two months since I've last updated. It's been a very, very stressful time for me. In my past posts I talked about my husband and I moving to a new job at a kindergarten in Shanghai called KindleKids, which we did. However, things did not go as planned, as the new job turned out to be a... How do you say - A SCAM?! We, along with two other foreign employees, didn't realize this until we had already worked for an...

CATS Live Again!

It's been 17 years since the last time I saw CATS the Musical and a few months ago my husband bought us tickets! It's been so long since I've actually made a post on here! Or to me it's felt like a long time, but we've been so busy! We recently put in our resignations at our current jobs (I won't elaborate, but it definitely wasn't working out) and we very quickly got new jobs that will start at the end of this month! From there we had to find a new apartment downtown, which took a while, but...

Hello Hong Kong Part 3

Our last days of vacation were spent indulging in some of the best shopping and food that money can buy! June 17 We started the day by heading to what used to be the Avenue of Stars, but is currently a construction site. Turns out all the statues were moved to a park near a hospital right up the road from the harbor, so it took us a bit to figure that out. Jari wanted to see the statue of Bruce Lee, which apparently has been on his bucket list for years and I didn't even know it! While it was...

Hello Hong Kong (Disney) Part 2

Since it was supposedly going to rain on Sunday we decided to make Saturday our first time at Hong Kong Disneyland! June 16 Neither of us had been to Hong Kong Disney before, and despite hearing that it wasn’t nearly as good as Shanghai Disney we wanted to go anyways to knock it off of our list! We got up early and got onto the metro and made it to the park before it opened. Thankfully we were ahead of the huge crowd that came in after us, so we were able to buy our tickets and get onto Main...

Hello Hong Kong Part 1

We spent our first day in Hong Kong by visiting the Tian Tan Buddha, then went for a walk around Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui. It has been so long! Summer work has caught up with me and I’ve been busy, busy, busy since early June! So I’m just now able to post about our trip to Hong Kong, which happened during the weekend of Dragon Boat Festival, right before my birthday. June 15 We arrived early in the morning and caught a double decker bus to the Tung Chung area where we took the Ngong Ping...

Hidden Gem

About two weeks ago we welcomed a new employee to our school and through her we were given the opportunity to visit a little arts and crafts center in the middle of the forest. Really! This place would have been so hard to find if it hadn't been for our coworker who actually grew up around here. As you see from the sign it was called Jiuqu Originality Workshop and it was located right near Sheshan National Forest in a small village neighborhood of old traditional homes. I've tried to find out...
