Best Venice Beach Airbnbs

Venice Beach is one of the must-sees of L.A. – a bohemian, anything goes beach enclave, filled with modern new age restaurants and trendy boutiques. We went as part of our California road trip, staying in an Airbnb near Abbot Kinney Boulevard. I’ve put together a guide to the best Venice Beach Airbnbs based on the shortlist we made for our own trip. We’ve also made a guide to the best Airbnbs in Santa Monica, Venice’s neighbour.

The Best of Airbnb Venice Beach

Venice Beach Airbnb Map

We’ve highlighted eight of the best Venice Beach Airbnbs in this post, but you can find lots more of our favourites on the map below.

The 10 Best Airbnbs in Venice Beach, L.A.

Charming Craftsman

Live in a garden oasis in the middle of Venice Beach. Featuring vine-covered interior walls, a brick patio with lounge chairs, and a delightful outdoor shower, this unique guest house is nestled in the sunny backyard of a larger Craftsman home.

What the guests say: “We really enjoyed our stay at Susans and Kevins place. The house is just like the pictures with a lot of light and cool style. Eventhough it is on the backyard they have managed to make it feel private. As hosts they are great and always ready to help immediately if there is anything you need.”

AirBnB listing: Charming Craftsman

Price: From $169 per night

Sleeps: 3 people (1 bedroom)

What the guests say: “Fabulous hidden gem perfectly positioned to explore all LA has to offer. Walking distance to Abbot Kinney, Venice and Santa Monica. In a quiet no through road close to a whole foods for ease. Amazing garden!”

AirBnB listing: Cactus Flower

Modern studio loft

You know it’s special when it’s been featured in an interiors magazine (in this case the LA Times home section). The large studio loft apartment, framed by huge 16ft bookshelves, is owned by an architect who designed the space. It’s also just one block from the beach, and has a private roof terrace.

What the guests say: “Brilliant space in a perfect location, a block from the beach. Designed by an architect, and it shows: polished concrete floors, stylish touches everywhere. This being Venice/Santa Monica, bikes are provided, and we used them to cycle to Santa Monica pier, which is a couple of miles away. Really enjoyed our stay.

AirBnB listing: Modern studio loft

Price: From $186 per night

Sleeps: 4 people (1 bedrooms)

Tiny House Venice Beach

You know I love tiny houses and airstreams, so I had to feature this little place that is a blend of the two – a tiny house modelled on an airstream, complete with a private bathroom, queen bed and kitchenette. It’s a bright space with lots of quirky touches to create a tropical Aloha vibe. And the price is very reasonable for the area.

What the guests say: “The airstream is the ultimate Venice beach experience! Such a cute and cosy space – quirky, vintage touches everywhere you look, but also sparkling clean and all the amenities you’d need.. Even though it’s located in a back yard it feels like a very private space. The best part is it being a short walk to the lively beach front, where you’ll have a lot of fun, especially on a bike, skateboard or skates! And more quirky places to eat and drink than you could fit in your trip.”

AirBnB listing: Tiny house Venice Beach

Price: From $70 per night

Sleeps: 2 people (1 bedroom)

Spectacular roofdeck and spa

The main draw of this Venice Beach Airbnb is the communal rooftop, complete with fire pit, Jacuzzi, BBQ, and 360-degree views. The interiors are nothing particularly noteworthy, but offer a clean and comfortable stay with perks including surf and boogie boards for use.

What the guests say: “We stayed in Tom’s amazing house for 8 nights and had a fabulous home from home experience . The accommodation is beautifully presented to the highest of standards and immaculately clean. The roof terrace is stunning and a complete hit with the whole family. Tom is a very gracious host, easily contactable for any queries or to offer guidance on local services or best walks etc… Would thoroughly recommend this gem of a place to stay, which is only a skip and a hop to the beach, to anybody wanting to holiday in Venice beach or nearby Santa Monica.”

What the guests say: Jana’s place is absolutely amazing!!! The space inside is small but very thoughtfully arranged and didn’t feel cramped. It had everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were great! Jana kindly turned on the hot tub for us while we were out for dinner so it was hot for us when we got back. Jana is super friendly and gave us loads of tips. It was also in a great location! Would definitely recommend staying with Jana! Especially if you want something slightly different to the norm!

AirBnB listing: Venice Beach Guest Studio with Pool and Hot Tub

Price: From $128 per night

Sleeps: 2 people (1 bedroom)

Venice Oasis

This colourful Venice Beach Airbnb is full of character. Guests can pick tomatoes and herbs from the rooftop garden, and fire up the pizza oven with the ocean as a backdrop. It has a fun and eclectic design story bursting with colour, and has great perks such as a games room.

What the guests say: “This is a very special home. We’ve stayed in several Airbnbs in the Venice area – and this is above and beyond the best. The home is absolutely stunning – the (beautiful!) photos don’t even do it justice. Every room is tastefully designed with thoughtful touches. The furniture isn’t typical “rental home” furniture – it’s high-end and comfortable. The roof deck is massive – it has an ocean view (gorgeous for sunsets) and a wood fire pizza oven. You’re just steps from beach, situated on one of the private Venice walking streets. Sean was a great host – always easy to reach, great communicator, and helped us with whatever we needed! Will definitely be staying here again the next time we are in Venice.”

AirBnB listing: Venice Oasis

What the guests say: “Brianne’s house is a gorgeous place within two walking minutes from Abbott Kinney. It’s bright, spacious and beautifully decorated. Everything is there, from kitchen equipment to entertainment. And Brianne herself was super kind and accommodating. Definitely one of the best places we stayed in so far in L.A!

Private Abbot Kinney Hideout with Patio

Soak up the modern, vintage, and eclectic charms of this fully remodeled 1940s Venice house by local architect/artists. The interior ambience offers an atmosphere of retro cool featuring numerous original art and conversation pieces.

What the guests say: “Vincent and Claire’s home is one of my favorite AirBnB’s I’ve ever stayed. It is so thoughtfully and stylishly designed with Claire’s incredible artwork and an amazing library, especially for those of you who are art lovers. The outdoor patio area is fantastic; I spent so many evenings outside enjoying the fire pit. The location is second-to-none, with a short walk to the ocean (I watched the sunset every day) and all of the shops on Abbott Kinney. Vincent and Claire were also attentive, generous hosts; I worked with Vincent to quickly troubleshoot a few issues that arose and were always resolved quickly. This space was magical and helped me fall in love with Venice. I can’t wait to visit again!”

It suited our family of five perfectly.”

The bedroom was lovely and cosy despite the terrible weather. The hut and kitchen are just as nice as you would expect from the photos. Recommend walking the local area- walked to Salcombe on one day and to the local pub in the evening for dinner- both lovely walks without too much planning!”

The whole place is solar powered and the shower is outside (but hot!).

What the guests say: “Oh what a special and magical place! I had the best time and it was simply the most perfect way to reground myself after what’s been a rather peculiar year. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and really cosy when the little fire is going and the world outside is growing dark. What with a great selection of teas, incredible views and landscape to roam, a fabulous bookshelf, a little fire, and a very comfy bed in the rafters, I had everything I could possibly have wanted. As for the shower…well, having an outdoor shower on a cold Christmas Day morning was not exactly something I had on my bucket list, but having eventually plucked up the courage to do so, I am now thoroughly converted! Thank you Freddy and Helena for creating such a lovely and wholesome place, and I cannot wait to return.”

The house is beyond amazing. Yes, there are 100 steps up from the road, so do be prepared, but that’s why you have a gorgeous view of the cove and fields from this stunning treetop home. We had breakfast on the balcony (yes, even in December/January!) in amongst the sound of birds and the nearby stream. We had buzzards flying over us in the day and a tawny owl hooting to us most nights as we relaxed by the fire. The house is very clean and contains everything you need – Jan is incredibly thoughtful about supplies, linens etc – the best host you could wish for.”

The ‘house’ is beautifully decorated throughout and the kitchen is supplied with every store cupboard item you might require and became the social hub for our family group. A welcome basket of a cream tea and a bottle of prosecco was a generous and welcoming touch. It’s ideal if you’re looking for a Devon Airbnb with a pool.

What the guests say: “The folly is completely magical. We were expecting it to be beautiful but it surpassed our expectations. The sound of the stream was delightful and we loved being able to see it from the bed! Every touch was full of unique charm. We used the pool every day and it was wonderful to swim about under such lush foliage. The sauna was excellent too. The kitchen was much better equipped than many Airbnb we’ve stayed in. Location wise you couldn’t get luckier. We walked into Dittisham along a pretty footpath – the easy going terrain was welcome as we are 8 months pregnant. Sheila and Richard were perfect hosts, really helpful and gave good advice about where to eat which we took up. There is also an extensive dvd library for rainy evenings which we made use of. All in all a real treasure. We shall return!”

What the guests say: “The cabin is a fabulous space. We are a family of 4 that wanted a simple escape to unwind and get in the mood for Christmas. No TV, just board games for entertainment, books aplenty for quiet by time. Log burner for cosying up. There is good WiFi so our teenager didn’t feel disconnected from the world. Local information was great. We explored the Helford passage and Falmouth. Can highly recommend Boo Koo’s, the Ferry Boat Inn and Slice Pizza.”

Fascinating decor appropriate to its age, a lovely claw-footed bath for two, a good-sized double-aspect kitchen-diner looking out onto grazing fields and castle walls, and a beautiful sitting room with log-burner. Harbour Lights, Charlestown

This beautiful cottage was featured on Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, which celebrated its stylish conversion from a “loo with a view” into the lovely space it is today. Situated on a beautiful bay in South Cornwall where seals and dolphins are regularly spotted and local fisherman bring in their daily catch, it has panoramic views of the harbour and sea. It’s less than five minutes’ walk from Charlestown, famous for the film set of Poldark and Alice In Wonderland

What the guests say: “When we arrived at Harbour Lights we were taken aback by the breathtaking views and the gorgeously decorated cottage. There were delicious scones and local tea which is just what we all needed after the long car journey. And thoughtful extras for the children too. We had a few rainy evenings so it was so lovely listening to the waves and the rain from our bedrooms. A very cosy holiday home. Charlestown harbour has loads of character and everything you need within walking distance. Great, attentive hosts. 5 *!”

Traditional Cornish Cottage, Nancegollan

This is a quintessential Cornish cottage, newly renovated but decorated in a traditional style (just look at that bath!). It’s on an 120-acre farm, surrounded by woods, gardens and an ancient orchard, and one mile down a farm lane for the ultimate seclusion. A great base for visiting areas like the Lizard Peninsula, Falmouth and the Far West.

What the guests say: “This is Cornwall’s best kept secret. We cannot wait to come back. The farm is the most idyllic of surroundings with so much to explore and the cottage is also just a drive away from so many special places to see. The ‘Cornish mile’ long drive is a pleasure and really adds to the beauty of the place. Mandy’s hospitality is just wonderful; we were made to feel so welcome and treasured every moment of our week here. We came with my Mum, Dad and 7 month old son and have had an incredible holiday. There was plenty of room for our travel cot and highchair and for the whole family to be able to relax and enjoy. We will most certainly be back (although we know booking might be tricky as I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to rebook this place of dreams!). If you’re reading this review contemplating whether to book or not, press the buttons now, you won’t regret it!”

Trenoweth House, Crowan

This former Victorian vicarage sleeps up to 14 and is a perfect rural group retreat. Nestled amid beautiful Cornish farmland and set in over three acres of woodland, lawns and gardens, it includes a stunning natural swimming lake and streams. For extra large groups, there are three more cottages on the grounds that are also available for hire. The house has been restored but still has a traditional, rustic feel.

What the guests say: “A group of us spent the August bank holiday weekend here. It couldn’t have been more perfect – the house is beautiful and totally surpassed our expectations. There was heaps of space for the 14 of us to spread out, and all the rooms felt uncluttered and stylish. We were brought fresh eggs and encouraged to feed the chickens and pick flowers and veg from the kitchen garden, which was such a nice touch. Lighting the wood burning stove in the hall and having dinner by candlelight was really special, as were the (chilly) morning swims in the pond. We’d love to come back.”

What the guests say: A gorgeous little hideaway right on the north Cornwall coastal path. Beautifully designed and styled, with all you need for a relaxing and cosy stay. It is lovely that there is a patio to sit in the sun in the morning. Its lovely that one of the bedrooms is self-contained. It was perfect for my mum who came on holiday with us. Deirdre and Beth were great and looked after us really well. We were also given some recommendations about things to do and places to eat which were great. What the guests say: “This place is every bit as good as it looks in the listing, and in such an incredible location – I don’t think I realised when booking it that it would be so close to the promenade, and so central in Penzance. Lizzie was brilliant as well, very nice, communicative and helpful. 10/10!”

Luxury Moonshine Shack, Marhamchurch

This bolthole was purpose built by the owners and is a faithful recreation of a shack from the Old West, but with a Cornish twist, of course. Step back to the days of pioneers and prohibition and hide away like outlaws in the self-contained bunkhouse. With a charmingly rustic interior, it makes for a memorable stay. There’s even a hot tub on the porch.

What the guests say: “After previously staying at Tinker on the farm this is another big WOW. A beautifully built and quirky Moonshine shack in the peace and quiet of North Cornwall. What’s not to love! The shack (this is underplaying it somewhat) is huge, much bigger than it looks in the pics. Everything has been built and placed with the comfort of the occupants in mind. The finish of the whole place is high end and I’d happily live here. Rocking chairs, hammock, hot tub, huge fire, walk in shower, separate bath, Netflix and a long couch, all perfect for lazing the days away. We can’t wait to come again once the world gets back to some kind of normality after Covid. Thank you Chris and Jan for accommodating us.”

There are several other huts available in the site too, as well as lots of tipis. It’s a good option if looking for a Port Isaac Airbnb.

What the guests say: “Dreamy place! Couldn’t recommend a getaway here enough. The lake is an absolute touch, surrounded by the trees, super quiet. What the guests say: “Bluebell is quite simply stunning. It looks incredible in the pictures but it’s even more breathtaking to see it in person. The perfect secluded retreat but also still close to so many places to visit. It was so relaxing to sit in the tub in the evening in total peace and quiet with just the sound of the stream. The Best UK Airbnbs

Best of Airbnb UK: London and South East England

Secluded treehouse retreat, Kent

Nesting between three sturdy oak trees, this treehouse made of recycled timbers has uninterrupted views across the glorious north downs AONB. It’s a cosy and private setting on the edge of a barley field with the only sounds being the wind through the trees and birdsong. A heater and double glazing make it ideal for both a winter or summer stay, and a chemical loo in the cabin at ground level adds a creature comfort. There’s also an induction hob, cool box, electric kettle, Nespresso machine and music system.

What the guests say: “This place is really something special. I don’t remember the last time I saw the stars so clearly. The hosts were extremely accommodating and the breakfast was a really nice touch. On our way out we even got to pick pears and apples from the garden. The perfect little getaway.”

It can also comfortably sleep two children (from 6 years) on single mattresses in a loft area accessed by a ladder and hatch. It’s a wonderful place to chill-out and lose yourself.

What the guests say: “A wonderfully cosy yet spacious wooden house at the edge of a large woods, suspended over a pond! The space is warm and inviting, well designed and laid out, with almost all the amenities of a small apartment. The BBQ on the balcony is easy to use and effective. The mezzanine area for children to sleep that overlooks the main area is quite special, and it’s even stocked with games and books!”

Old Smock Windmill, Kent

Everything at the Old Smock Mill is designed to unwind you from the moment you walk in. It is surrounded by the lovely Kent countryside where you can ramble and refresh yourselves, perhaps ending the day in one of the great local pubs. It’s been beautifully restored and retains many original features, including massive beams that span each floor, carrying the original upright shaft giant spur wheel and sack hoist. A welcome basket including the owners’ chickens’ organic eggs is provided on arrival.

What the guests say: “The windmill is absolutely incredible! The amount of thought and effort that they’ve put into the refurb is stunning. Clare left us freshly laid eggs, freshly baked bread, homemade apple juice and some locally grown produce. We were surprised how an old timber building could be so clean and spotless and feel so homely. The bed was really comfortable and really we couldn’t find fault anywhere.

Spice World Bus, Isle of Wight

Children or teens of the nineties (like me) will love this one – it’s none other than the actual Spice Girls’ tour bus that featured in the movie Spice World!
