A Few Options For WordPress Security

Friday, February 27, 2015  Internet Security
You would be very hard-pressed to find a more secure platform than WordPress for web hosting. None the less, it always helps to have a little extra security and firewall protection on your site. I've produced a list of three of the hottest new WordPress security plugins to assist you in doing just that. These three plugins are all very easy to use and understand.

iThemes Security allows users several means of protecting their sites. It patches holes and eliminates automated attacks, all while verifying and strengthening user credentials. Most of iTheme's features have one-click activation, but there are also advanced options for more experienced users. They have supported WordPress since 2008, formerly as Better WP Security.

Some of the features of iThemes Security Pro are:

User action logging - track when users edit content, login or logout Dashboard Widget - manage important tasks such as user banning and system scans right from the WordPress dashboard WP-CLI integration - Manage your site's security from the command line Google CAPTCHA - Protect your site against spammers. There is also a GeoIP banning option in development for the iThemes plugin.

All In One WP Security and Firewall is another excellent WordPress plugin which employs an array of good security practices. It can take your website's security to another level.

It is comprehensive, easy to use and very well supported. It allows you to perform tasks via a (cookie-based) Brute Force Login Prevention feature which effectively blocks all login attempts from people and bots. In addition, it also performs checks of all suspicious IP addresses and hosts in order to get full details. It comes complete with a file change detection scanner which alerts you if and when any files have been changed in your system. It also monitors active IP addresses which persistently produce the most SPAM comments, allowing you to block them with a simple click of the mouse.

BulletProof Security is yet another great plugin option for WordPress security. It also employs a one-click concept in which several tasks are performed with a simple click of a button.

BulletProof setup actually takes 4 button clicks, but it gives your website maximum security with its many security features. These features include: DB Backup Logging, DB Table Prefix Changer, Security Logging, HTTP Error Logging, FrontEnd/BackEnd Maintenance Mode and UI Theme Skin Changer. The Pro version of Bulletproof Security includes other extras like: AutoRestore Intrusion Detection & Prevention System (IDPS), an option to quarantine Intrusion Detection & Prevention System (IDPS), real-time File Monitoring (IDPS), and DB Monitor Intrusion Detection System (IDS).
