RSS Feed I survived shopping...

Today we had to go out shopping for some dress clothes for Nate; he has a big banquet tomorrow night.

We (including dh) headed out to a local department store and began our search.

I was hoping that it would be painless because sometimes it can be quite painful.

The first thing we needed to decide was if he would wear just a sweater or a sport coat.

Decision = sport coat

Dh said he had a jacket that would fit him. Super!

Next up find a nice white button down shirt.

We searched high and low and discovered one a bit buried on the shelf.

Shirt = done

Now what color tie?!

(inside I was gasping? a tie!)

Nate liked red, I found a really cool red/blue plaid and K found a nice orange one.

After holding many up to a sport jacket like the one we had at home it was the orange tie that won.

Meanwhile, Spencer was bubbling around the Men?s Dept. finding sweaters and various shirts for his big brother. Then he discovered some winter hats that he had to try on and a pair of gloves that he really wanted. I was all for buying the gloves the problem was that they were too big. He was disappointed that we would not be getting them but was back to giving us a big chuckle shopping.

Last but not least a new pair of pants.

That was really the easiest find out of everything.

Next up ? off to the shoe store for some dress shoes.

We left with three pairs of various shoes.

He found a great pair of leather shoes on clearance for $30, a pair of soft warm (acceptable ? his words) slippers on clearance and last but not least a pair of his favorite Avia sneakers half price on sale for $24 (his current ones we discovered had holes this past weekend *rolls eyes*).

It was actually quite painless and enjoyable to go shopping today with him.

Thank goodness.

RSS Feed Buttermilk Crock Pot Chicken - Recipe

I wanted something super yummy for dinner tonight.

Something that would warm and fill us up.

Off I went through my recipe book and found a recipe that I had tried before with pretty good feedback.

Checked the cupboard for a packet of Italian salad dressing and the only thing I found was a packet of buttermilk salad dressing mix. Turns out that I was also out of Cream of Chicken soup so that recipe was shot down.

Humm....

The wheels were churning, could I sub in some ingredients and come up with a good dinner?

Feeling a bit daring I opted to give it a try and I have to say it was a delicious meal.

The boys ate in silence, they enjoyed it that much!

Just pop all the ingredients in, go about your day and enjoy a really tasty dinner waiting for you.

RSS Feed Holiday Music....

Don?t get me wrong I enjoy listening to holiday music.
You know Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Silent Night, Santa Clause but why do the radio stations need to play them before Thanksgiving?!
Seriously.
Can?t we get through Thanksgiving before they switch over their programming?
I have wonderful memories of my mom digging out the holiday records and playing them after we celebrated Thanksgiving.
Is it just me?
Is there anyone else out there that this bothers?
I do listen to other stations when I am in the car or my Ipod but it is too early IMHO.

RSS Feed Mmmm?.. French Toast

Yummy French Toast made with the potato bread I made yesterday.

I even received a big thumbs up from Spence!

RSS Feed Happy National Homemade Bread Day + Recipe

Mmmm? bread?

Pumpernickel, Rye, Sourdough, Whole Wheat, Honey, Egg Bread, French, Italian, Cinnamon Raisin and on it goes.

I enjoy adore bread, perhaps a bit too much some days. *blush*

I grew up eating homemade egg bread and enjoy making bread/rolls (either in a machine or by hand) when I have the chance.

I have tried to give it (bread) up a few times but that was a total disaster.

Talk about severe withdrawal symptoms.

I choose not to recall that time in my life. *shudder*

Now I can say that I have cut way back on how much I eat, only once per day but I really savor that serving.

This is a quick and easy loaf to make in a bread machine that will not disappoint you.

This loaf makes a great toast in the morning.

Enjoy and don?t forget the butter!

Potato Bread

3/4 cup milk

1/2 cup water

2 Tbl. oil

3 cup bread flour

1/2 cup instant potato flakes

1 Tbl. sugar

2 tsp. active dry yeast

1. Add ingredients to bread machine in order listed.

2. Select desired setting and press start.

RSS Feed Close Call....

I was walking in a daze this morning due to a wonderful migraine that decided to hang on for another day. Lucky me..

The boys did not need lunches made (thank goodness) because they have opted to buy at school lately. I threw together a quick sandwich with some fruit for dh and then made some eggs for us (dh & I).

I decided to have an English muffin but used a really sharp knife to split it apart.

>not a wise choice<

With knife in hand, I started to cut apart the muffin but I did not move my finger out of the way fast enough.

It was really odd because I could feel it cutting the skin on my thumb but it just did not register.

I simply just kept cutting.

No blood was lost, and I still have my thumb connected but I did slice off a nice hunk of skin.

Note to self: Never use a knife to cut when suffering from a migraine.
