RSS Feed Three Useful Technologies for Nurses and Patients

Technology continues to improve the lives of patients and improve the efficiency of nurses and healthcare providers. Beyond complicated surgical procedures and implants, technology is helping on a practical, day-to-day basis to streamline the transmission of medical information, which behooves both nurses and patients in public or home medical facilities. These three technologies in particular can be extremely useful:

RSS Feed How to Really Make Money Blogging

Making money in the internet is not a myth. It?s no as simple as playing $19.99 and have Freddy in India set you up a website and have it go on autopilot, either. Making money online takes work. Nothing in this life is for free. Many people have looked to blogging as a way to generate income for themselves. I?ll be completely honest. When I started blogging, making money was the last thing I had in mind. In fact, for a very long time I felt as if I wasn?t supposed to make money off of it. Sort of coincides with how I sometimes feel guilty that I get paid to work as a nurse. Something inside me always told me that people would or already were judging me harshly for receiving compensation for caring for others or in this case, blogging.

RSS Feed 7 Things a Nurse Can Learn as a Patient

Being a patient is a difficult task for me. I?m used to being the leader, the provider, the organizer, the nurse, but never the patient. But when the diagnosis of a brain tumor stops you dead in your tracks, you have no choice but to become a patient. Then again, I should know better. As Six Until Me and Chronic Babe have already taught me, We Are All Patients.

RSS Feed Third Time?s a Charm: An Electrifying Hospital Stay

The intention was to return to work on Tuesday following my appointment on Monday. I was supposed to go in and get a release, but instead I got admitted to the hospital.. again... So that makes for 3 admissions for this particular ailment. Then again, I guess a brain tumor isn't just a routine illness. Considering the fact that I had been sleeping 16 hours a day, all day, staying up all night, having absolutely no energy, and drinking nearly my weight in water every day, it probably was the most appropriate choice. Needless to say, I was a bit upset about it at the time. I really just want to get my life back in order, and frequent hospital admissions aren?t exactly the routine in my life.

RSS Feed Lessons Learned From My Mother

My mother taught me many lessons in life, but most of them I didn?t even realize I had learned until after she passed aware. I?m going to talk about just a few of these lessons. If she were sitting right next to me now, I would love to hear the words ?I told you so,? come out of her mouth. She?s earned it.

RSS Feed Protecting Your Reputation Online

I?ve recently written a few articles about identity theft and keeping you and your children safe online. Doing this has made me more aware that since I am actively involved in social media and have a personal brand, I expose myself to a greater risk of identity theft and other personal attacks online. I?ve built a personal brand and reputation that are important to me. It?s important that I have some form of reputation management in order to protect what I have built.
