Here i am - coming back from a roughly night, lots of drinks dancing etc. Yet i still did manage to find some economics in it. Here goes my analysis.
Here is how normally the graph for marginal utility looks:

Now here is my marginal utility that i got from the beers i drank this night:

yes yes you smart guy's.. it's exponential.. at least that's how i feel the additional utility from beers
It's Halloween ... here are some cartoon's taken from Greg Mankiw's blog
This is first part of a series of econCOMICS i will publish.

Paul Krugman won this year The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, or just the Nobel Prize in Economics- "for his analysis of trade patterns and location of economic activity".
Here is is more detalied description of his contributions.
Or as he put it, something funny happened to him. :D :D :D
Congratulations.
For some time now, around 2-3 months, i don't eat meat. I think that it is more healthy to not eat meat. I persuaded myself that fat is really bad, and meat has much fat, therefore i stopped eating meat to consume less fat, and to have a healthier life. Now, after just finishing my meal (mayonnaise and cheese), with a broad generalization i concluded that i consume more fat than i would have if i ate meat. How came to this when my first intention was to consume less fat ? What actually worked was the mechanism of moral hazard. Not-eating meat made me feel protected from fat, therefore i didn't payed much attention how much fat my non-meat meals have - which is to say i consumed more milk products, mayonnaise, eggs etc, with considerably more fat then their counterpart meat meals.
And, no, i won't start eating meat, i will just pay more attention to the amount of fat i consume in my non-meat meals.
While reading libertarian literature and ideas... I considered the school voucher system and the case in Macedonia... If it is applied to high school, what will the results be ?
In 2008 there are 95 600 high-school students in Macedonia(from stat.gov.mk), and according to budget public expenditures are around 36.24 million euros for high-school education. This means, 380 euro on average per student. I lack some data to make a calculation whether it will or not be profitable or possible to privately run schools with the voucher system... But i can take for example the local school, which is to say rural and most probably worst case scenario for privately runed school, which had only 330 students in 2006/2007 meaning it equals income 125.400 Euros. The figure about the school budged is not that good, since the current management appointed by government lack the incentive to attract more students. Since this high school is worst case, way below country average of admitted students (900), and in my assumption it can work profitably - bottom line is vouchers will work in Macedonia.
Yet there may be few exceptions, schools that wont be profitable to be operated privately, but with some added value for rural areas, or transportation vouchers, the system will work..
I really don't wanna watch the Teacher's Union news statements if this is ever proposed in Macedonia. :D :D :D
Look at the bright side... at least something moves up in the Macedonian economy, except inflation of course :D.
Just read Capitalism and Freedom - Milton Friedman, and it is the main reason for making this graph.
Next on my list is Free to Choose, i hope it is not only rephrased Capitalism and Freedom, and i also hope to see many new(at least for me) ingenious solutions to society problems.
