RSS Feed Bad Food Day - Oh Well

I got my hair cut last night :-) I kind of have side swept bangs. They looked like it last night. This morning I couldnt get it right and thought a few pieces of hair were off so i cut them. It looked a little choppy and I knew how to fix it, but I was running late and HAD to be at work at exactly 8am this morning. So now it looks a little choppy. I think it is a pretty big change (for me) but only one person said something. That usually means it is hideous and people are just not saying anything to be nice, but I still like it and am confused by the perception. haha.

In my rush out of the house this morning I also didn't have time to pack my gym bag. I really wanted to do this bosu core class too. Boo. I stayed up late though last night, until about 130am, to help the boyfriend with a paper he was working on that is due today. Probably best I did not workout, because I am tired.

Today is officially going to be my "saturday" when it comes to food.

For lunch I went to an Indian Food buffet which was delish. I really didn't eat too much, aside from the naan. I can't help it. It is delicious.

Then there was a birthday celebration at work. I had chocolate fudge espresso cake. Delicious. I ate my whole slice and am now incredibly full.

Dinner tonight is supposed to be Mike either cooking for me or buying me a meal and bringing it home so we can watch the Suns vs. Mavericks game tonight. Mike wants to make up for me helping him on his paper. Wonder what we will be having? Hmmm.

I will go back to eating fantastically starting tomorrow. I did pretty well all week so far.

Oh also, my abs are now sore, just not half as sore as my legs were the other day. No idea how my abs are so much stronger than my legs when I work those out ALL the time. heh. I find it strange. Maybe it is not at all and I am just misinformed.

Oh also, there is a huge box of see's candies in the break room, along with fancy cookies candy. I can easily avoid them right now since I am over stuffed with chocolate fudge espresso cake. haha. Oh well.

Have a great day!

RSS Feed Soups & Haircut

A lot of you mentioned that I incorporate lots of soups in my diet to increase veggie consumption. Love the idea. Especially since this is the first year I have actually started to CRAVE soups. Normally I hated them and thought they were boring. But now I just want something nice and warm to eat. What are YOUR favorite soups?

I looked at all the cans of soups I have at home and looked at the fiber content. Amy's were pretty good, and surprisingly my favorite soup (bc of childhood memories), campbells bean w/ bacon, has 9 grams of fiber, just as much as Amy's lentil soup. Crazy. Probably a lot more sodium though. Oh well.

I have all kinds of ideas now for soups. I don't even know how to make them though. Do you need a food processor if you make them from scratch? I will need to research this. Am I obsessive compulsive for you enough this week on the veggie front? haha.

Oh also last night I went to Step class. It was a little different than the 24 hour fitness one, so I got confused A LOT and at the end of class everyone was like wow, you did pretty good for your first time. The fact they noticed was awesome, because unfortunately I have done step about 10 times at nother gym. Also that they had to say that, truly meant I was pathetic in my mind. hahaa. I have accepted I have no coordination though, so I just am glad I can let them believe it was my first time, EVER. hahaha.

After the Step part though we did abs. Abs on an incline is incredibly intense I learned last night. Surprisingly they are not sore though. My abs hardly EVER get sore, which is weird because the only time I work them out (at least as a focused ab exercise) is when I am taking a class like this, and it has been over 6 months. I am not complaining though. But I will say my legs are freaking sore. It hurts to walk here.

So everyone in Texas warned me that fall/winter were soo much different than California weather. I think they must not know Southern California weather because it feels exactly the same, except with some humidity. It is going to be 74 degrees today. I still can't wear my cute jacket that I bought a few weeks ago. Tomorrow it is supposed to be 59, so I want to wear it, although I am sure a ton of you reading this think 59 is t-shirt weather. Personally, anything below 75 requires a sweatshirt for me. which is exactly why I am constantly always wearing my work fleece at work and have a space heater by my desk. haha. Note, a space heater the 4 people in my cube area are supposed to share, but that I stole for personal use. Although if they ask to use it, I swear I would let them. :-)

Today is free lunch at work day. I am getting a bowl with some thai noodles (forgot the name of them), veggies, curry and tofu. They usually go pretty heavy on the veggies from this place. Pretty excited too because it usually results in at least 2 lunches.

Tomorrow though we are going out to lunch again for a few co-workers birthdays. Will definitely get a salad tomorrow, and not the stuffed avocado like I did yesterday. oops.

Ooo also I have a hair cut today. That means no workout, although I am too sore to walk today so that wasn't an option anyway. I need to find a cute hairstyle to bring into the hair dresser. I did not like what they did last time and think I need to show pictures this time for specific instructions. Any ideas on where to find cute haircuts?

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal w/ true delights granola bar, coffee w/ pumpkin spice soy milk
S: oiko's blueberry
L: veggie/tofu bowl
S: veggies, banana w/ almond butter
D: Leftover veggie/tofu bowl

RSS Feed Dreams of Veggies and Fruit...

So yesterday I definitely increased the veggies. I had veggies with my pseudo fried rice (rice, egg whites, sweet potato, corn, onions, garlic, edamame, ham). I had a huge sandwich bag of baby carrots, celery and tomatoes. Loved it. It kept me full pretty much all night. I wasn't even hungry for dinner when it came around, but I ate anyway, knowing I should. But definitely less. Fantastic. Although my tummy is definitely noticing the changes. Almost not in a good way. So I am going to keep the veggie increase to the level it is at now and then continue to increase slowly.

I have a very sensitive stomach, so I have to be careful when I make any changes. This is why I stuck with eating 3 rotating meals of spaghetti, bean tostadas and quesadillas for about 3 years straight for dinner every night. This might be a longer process for me to incorporate this veggie/fruit habit to the degree it needs to be compared to a normal person. I can deal with that. I hope you can ;-)

Yesterday on twitter I asked people what sort of veggies are their favorites, because I need ideas on new ones to eat. I usually always have the go to carrots, celery, tomatoes and snap peas. This will get boring. I am sure. I got a few good ideas, and think I will incorporate them next week. I also got a few ideas from my readers, including Molly (my ex roomie and an amazing friend). Thank you!

I am the type of person though who as soon as she hears a good idea wants to get the item to get the idea in action immediately. But I can't. I am stopping myself. I spent too much on groceries this week already and have a lot of food to eat. I need to eat it first before buying anything. I even have to stop myself from cooking a million different meals I want to try. I have the ingredients in my house (well not for a million different, but several different ones) and just want to go for it. But I would never eat everything I make, so I am stopping myself. It takes a lot of self restraint, promise.

I had dreams last night about incorporating more veggies and fruit into my diet. In my dream I discovered I had TONS of frozen fruit in my freezer and started adding that to my oatmeal. And turns out I do have SOME frozen fruit in my freezer, so I started with some frozen peaches this morning.

Oh also, my blackberry alarm decided not to go off this morning like it is told to do on weekdays. It was on. I did not do anything stupid like set it to pm or something instead of am. it had the same settings as the morning before when it went off on time. I tested it a few times and it would not work. I reset the phone, still didn't work. I took out the battery and restarted it and it finally did work. But now I am super paranoid. I have two alarm systems on my blackberry though so hopefully at least one of them goes off tomorrow morning.

Luckily Mike works from home today and was able to make me coffee and take the dogs out this morning. I only ended up being 8 minutes late to work (after waking upt 45 minutes late) but I did have to eat my oatmeal at work. It was funny too, because some new person started today and as someone was introducing him to my group I was in mid bite of my oatmeal. Sexy right?

I think I have to get another blood test in December to test my cholesterol. I am hoping it went down a little. I am going to go extra hard core on the veggies and fruit this month so hopefully by the time I take it, it will be down. Not sure how much can change in a matter of 3 weeks or whatever it is supposed to be.

Oh also last night I went ot the circuit training class again. It was a lot of fun, and incredibly intense. I did get one compliment from the instructor though, saying she was surprised I hadn't given up earlier into one of the workouts like everyone else. Woo hoo. And I only gave up for like 3 seconds and finished up my last 15 seconds. Also I have always been terrible at coordination. I have accepted this at least and don't mind that at every single station the instructor has to tell me what I am doing the exercise wrong in some way it seems. It is good she is telling me though because I do need to figure out how to do it right. It is somewhat embarassng to my ego, but I am just telling myself positive thoughts and not letting it bother me like I used to let things like this do to me.

Tonight I am going to step class. I found out it is a different instructor though. :-( The one in circuit training usually does it, and she is awesome. But I guess it is someone different this week. No big deal, I am sure she is nice too. And I say "she" because it is a women's gym, so I imagine it would only be a woman teacher.

Today at lunch I am going out for a new co-worker thing. Should be fun. I am thinking of getting a salad there (looks like a great one), even though what I really want is even more delicious, although very greasy and not very veggie filled. I need to think of that cholesterol test....

Have a great day everyone!

Question: What is your favorite salad combo?

Planned Food for the Day
B: oatmeal w/ trail mix and peaches, coffee w/ pumpkin spice soy milk
s: true delights oatmeal bar
L: salad (w/ black beans, avocado, etc)
S: veggies, banana w/ almond butter, oikos
D: lasagna w/ salad

RSS Feed More Fiber

So I bought "
I am also going to try to eat more veggies and fruits. I packed up 5 huge sandwich baggies full of veggies for each day of the week. They are made up of celery, baby carrots, and tomatoes. I ate a ton of them yesterday too and felt full all night. Woo hoo. I think eating more veggies really might be the trick I have been missing.

I am not that big of a fan of salads. Not sure if it is because it is a cold meal or what. But I am going to work on finding ways to like them more, without loading them with dressing. Any ideas? I have heard of just juices from fruits like lemon, lime, orange, etc, which sound good. Hmm. Maybe I should just start stocking my fridge with things I like on salads that I do not have. Might make them tastier. I used to eat a salad for lunch almost every day my freshmen year of college, and then several times a week every other year in college. They had a delish salad bar on campus. Mmmm.

What are your favorite toppings on salads?

I also have a workout plan for the week. Here it is:

Monday: Circuit Training Class
Tuesday: Step Mania class
Wednesday: Hair cut (any ideas for me ?)
Thursday: Bosu class, or elliptical
Friday: Elliptical
Saturday: Not sure, but something
Sunday: Run with the dogs at the park

Meal plan for today:
B: oatmeal w/ trail mix, coffee w/ pumpkin spice soymilk
S: true delights quaker oatmeal bar, toasted coconut banana macadamia
L: home made fried rice with ham and TONS of veggies, banana w/ pb
S: veggies, oikos
D: lasagna & salad (ate this the past few nights, we made a ton of it, in small amounts not bad I think)

So I might be talking about how eating more veggies and fiber in general affects me. I may either die of being too bloated, get sick, or get incredibly better. I am going to incorporate it all slowly so that I stick with it and that I do not end up in the bathroom for hours at time while working. Heh.

Any advice on how you incorporated more veggies and fruit into your diet?

RSS Feed Myspace Ads at their Best

Look what ad I got on myspace today? I love how they can target you now. I am 24, and of COURSE I am over weight and want to look anorexic like the girl in the picture. I hope CNN AND Oprah can make me look anorexic.

Let's click on the link and see where it take's me so I can get the answer.

Oh it takes me to Mary's Fat Loss Blog, with a girl who is in AUSTIN where I live and only uses google content ads as her main content. OMG. Maybe I can lose weight too, I know she can because she did it and lives in AUSTIN and has a BLOG. Oh wait, what happened to the advice from Oprah and CNN? I thought they were going to give me advice not Mary. STRANGE. I guess this was good enough. Time for me to go on the diet specifically aimed at people MY age.

RSS Feed Thanksgiving Update

Right before my Thanksgiving trip look what I got in the mail! Woo hoo! And no, I did not get it for free. Oh well, it is worth every cent. I tried some this morning and it was amazing.

I failed to get photos of the food at Thanksgiving but I did get pictures of me and the fam playing Rock Band. Although we were all pretty shaky at first we ended up kicking some butt towards the end!

Here you can see Mike on drums, Steven on mic, and Felipe on bass.

Here you can see me on bass (my fave), felipe on drums and steven on mic again. Steven was quite the singer.
The pups also had a lot of fun. Steven has a dog, hunter, and a huge backyard. The dogs played the entire time we were there. There was a lot of ender chasing hunter, although he probably never did catch him. haha.
Emily is not one to chase very long, but she is one to lay by family and pose for the camera ;-)

On Black Friday Mike, his mom and aunt and I went to wal-mart to check out the deals. We showed up several hours too late and discovered all the sales were over. We also got rained on pretty badly. That was Mike after walking from the front drop off to the front door.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I sure did. I am looking forward to Christmas already to hang out with the whole fam again. This time it will be in Austin, which means I get to do the cooking. I am looking forward to that since I love cooking!

There was a lot of eating to be had on Thanksgiving, but I am already eating better today. I even worked out this morning. Woo hoo!

Have a great day and a marvelous weekend!
