RSS Feed {Review} - Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product: Wal-Born Plus

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

PharmacistI don't know about you, but I am not one to take medicine when I get sick. I mean, I really do not like medicines of any sort. Now, a migraine or tooth ache I will take medicine for because those types of pain are of the devil and the worse kind! OMGoodness! Otherwise, I do not take medicine until SuperDad forces it down my throat! But, recently when some sort of virus was flying through my kids one by one my mom suggested I try Walgreens Wal-Born Plus Probiotic. Fortunately, I had learned all about probiotics at a past MOPS meeting so I at least knew what they were.

I had never tried the Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products but my mom swears by anything Walgreens puts out... and you have to listen to your mom, right?! So, she actually gave me some she had and SuperDad and I got started on them. You simply drop one tablet in a full glass of water up to 3 hours a day and drink it down. Being afraid of trying new things, I had to just go for it! And it actually wasn't that bad. It didn't really taste too much like a medicine at all. Whew! Otherwise I would have stopped right there!

And the price? Around $6 for 10 tablets compared to the $23 I spend on the probiotics I buy the girls. Not bad for keeping the illness away! And, yes, by the way, it worked! SuperDad and I stayed virus free. It has 1000mg of Vitamin C! Wow! That is 1667% of your daily value. There are other ingredients too of course, but Vitamin C is always our first line of defense when illness arrives. With a family of seven we have to stop everything from going round and round and try to contain it as best as possible!

Plus, with a purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund?. Walgreens will contribute up to $3 million annually to the Walgreens Way to Well Fund?. The Walgreens Way to Well Fund? will provide free preventive health tests as well as other health and wellness services and education to local communities. Some of those services will include preventive health tests through the National Urban League Health & Wellness Tour and vouchers redeemable in select stores. For details, visit walgreens.com/waytowell.

Finally, several bloggers have teamed up with giveaways for

RSS Feed I Survived the Rapture 2011... At least I think I did

I am trying to decide if I should schedule this to post after 6pm this evening or go ahead and post it now?! Perhaps I should not even write it. I mean Harold Camping is one "reputable dude" on this whole "end of the world" thing, right? Just because he "misread his own clues" back in 1994 should have no leverage on his reputation now, right? Surely he knows even more than God.
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father... Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. ~Matthew 24:36,42-44
As a Christ follower I am most disturbed by all those that believe that this false prophecy is a Christian-led movement. Ummmm... no?! I do not know one person in my large circle of Christian friends that have jumped on this crazy bandwagon. If you know anything about the end time prophecies you know that after Jesus comes back to rapture all those who believe in Him there is a period where the Antichrist then rules the earth. Please do not generalize this as a belief all Christians have nor that this is any sort of Christian movement. I can assure you that our pastor has a sermon planned on Sunday with the intent of having a full sanctuary to preach to.
Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, ?Come up here.? And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. ~Revelation 11:12-13
The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. ~Revelation 13:5
Well, reading this, how can I, as a Christ follower, believe that {1} Harold camping could possibly know {for certain} both the day and the hour of Christ's return and {2} that he can predict the destruction of the world just 5 months later? The Bible clearly tells me there is a 42 month reign of the Antichrist, and even then the world is not destroyed yet... there is a 1000 year reign where Satan is thrown into the bottomless pit. Besides, although Camping has mentioned the opening of the 6th seal which would bring about a great earthquake, what about the blood red moon or all the stars falling to the earth?
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time. ~Revelation 20:1-3
I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. ~Revelation 6:12-13
AAAAHHHH! I am so confused! {Not really because I believe The Bible rather than some 89 year old man who has proven himself wrong before}. Besides, I found it interesting that he claims all churches should be abandoned and people should simply study their Bible and listen to his talk radio show. Really? Plus, I read that Camping says that those who are not saved and taken in the rapture will simply lose consciousness {forever} rather than spending an eternity in hell. What? So, their bodies just lie in an eternal sleep forever? Seriously?

I am having trouble understanding how this guy has gained such a huge following. I am not able to speak from an agnostic or atheistic view because my beliefs are different than theirs, but come on now, really? You're going to lie in a Sleeping Beauty type state for the rest of eternity while we are partying in Heaven? I just don't know about all that! I do know that I serve a mighty God who has carried me through many things. I believe The Bible is God-breathed and that its word is more powerful than that of Harold Camping. And, if you disagree that is perfectly fine... for now. But, at least if I'm wrong nothing happens to my soul after death... just saying!

Ok... I had to... just for fun! : )

RSS Feed So, have you noticed that the "changes are a coming?"

Yesterday marked one month since I wrote about making some changes. After looking over the list of goals I can now cross off #1. You can look at my archives and see that my blogging has become a daily event and I am getting back to the core of my original intent {sorta}. I did notice yesterday that I have not been "writing" much because I have been so busy trying to market the site. This means copying and pasting some deals for a quick post have become easier than writing one. That makes me sad. Thus, today I am writing down my thoughts!

Taking my blog to the next level means there are some changes that have to be made. I redesigned the header {again} and cleaned up the sidebar a bit. Yesterday I finally bought my own domain name {www.7onashoestring.com}! That was just the first step towards going "big time!" HeeHee! Next I plan on going to a self-hosted Wordpress format. Blogger has been great to me for the past 4 years, but I believe the time has now come to move on! I am praying the transition goes smooth and nothing is lost or broken in the move. {I have this same fear when we make a physical move. Hmmmm...} Anyways, look for those changes soon! I am such a big baby about spending any amount of money, no matter how small, so I am trying to justify the cost of self-hosting with money that my blog can bring in to pay for it. Every "one" must pull their own weight around here... this blog included! =)

Marketing has been a tough, but fun, job! Twitter has become my best friend and SuperDad and my kiddos think I'm crazy! I attend every Twitter party I can to gain followers and raise that infamous Klout score {my score has come up 37 points in just the past month which shows how hard I have been working}. Plus, those parties have brought me in touch with other great bloggers and who can deny the fun in winning cool prizes?! Just 2 nights ago I won a pass to the BlogWorld Expo in New York next week! How cool is that? I am looking for a sponsor for the travel and accommodation costs, but even if I do not get to go it was still an honor to win!

My Facebook page was given a bit of a makeover since I added a landing page to it last night. SuperDad was not thrilled with his picture being included but he is so awesome and just "goes with the flow." {Gosh I love him!} I am still trying to decide what I want to do across the top as far as pictures go, but I was pretty excited about getting the landing page up! Now to get more "likes" over there {**hint, hint**}.

And the most intense and toughest job comes in trying to "pitch" myself to brands. I am not one for talking about myself {you can read through my previous posts and probably tell that} but it has to be done in order to score some reviews and sponsors for the site. I have begun putting together my media kit and have a start on my PR/Disclosure page, but am waiting to get more demographics in before completing my full kit {there is actually a $5 Amazon gift card giveaway associated with just filling out the form}. It is actually pretty exciting watching numbers go up and down accordingly as I interact with others and get myself out there. The whole experience is truly pulling me further and further out of my little hermit shell. {Yay! I have been stuck in my own little world for quite some time!}

I am hoping to get more reviews and guest blogging invites {I have scored one with Our Milk Money that I am pretty stoked about} because they actually require me to write my own thoughts! When SuperDad and Prince W were reading my Loveable Labels post, SuperDad looks up and asks, "You wrote this?" Humph! Yes! Why? He then just smiled and said, "I know you can write. I am just impressed." Thank you? {It really is a good thing I love him!}

Nevertheless, the changes are "a coming" {why yes, I am from Texas} and I am pretty excited about them! I can't wait to see some of the hard work and sleepless nights pay off! My poor kids and SuperDad are missing me. My laptop and iPhone have become my constant companions and, again, that makes me sad. SuperDad says he understands, but I do not think my kids do {and shouldn't have to}. This weekend I believe will be all about my kids {at least when they need me to be involved... sometimes they are too busy for  me}. Keep watching this space because, yes, it is going to do something! =)

Blessings,
