[Online Recipe] White Wine Poached Egg with Bacon Fris�e Salad

Bumming around the other day, I decided to watch some episodes of Michael Symon's Cook Like an Iron Chef show that I'd DVRed from The Cooking Channel. (Which by the way, is far superior to Food Network.) After watching his "Secret Ingredient: Eggs" episode, I just couldn't get his �White Wine Poached Egg with Bacon Fris�e Salad�out of my head, and so I made it for dinner a few nights ago. Unfortunately, I was unable to find fris�e anywhere in the area, so I settled for baby arugula instead. [Online Recipe] Cornish Hens with Sherry Garlic Glaze; Meyer Lemon Risotto

I got a couple of meyer lemons from my parents this week. I have never cooked with them before, and we used to make risotto with reserved lemons back when I lived at home. That was one of my favorite risotto dishes, so I decided to give it a try with a meyer lemon risotto recipe. This recipe was really delicious because of how creamy it is - not only does it call for parmesan but also for mascarpone, which I have never used in risotto before but will definitely do again. So flavorful and creamy! I paired this with a cornish hen recipe with a sweet vermouth garlic glaze, however, all I had was sherry so I used that instead and it turned out great. Read more →

Balsamic Pearl Couscous with Shallots

One of my favorite recent meals is J. Alexander's crispy fish sandwich with a side of their awesome Israeli couscous. I have been trying to replicate �the couscous recipe for quite sometime, and I think I finally have something similar (and super tasty!). [Online Recipe] Homemade Orecchiette!

Ravioli, linguini, angel hair... I've been making homemade pasta for a couple of years now. There is just something about the taste of freshly made noodles that just can't be beat by any store brand pasta I've tried yet. This was my attempt at making "little ears", or orecchiette in Italian. These are my favorite small pasta shape, and I love them with homemade pesto, but they seem to always be much more expensive than other shapes at the grocery store. So, why not make my own? These turned out pretty well, but maybe a little too time-consuming to make on a regular basis. Chicken and Italian Sausage Dumplings with Soy Dipping Sauce

I had a real craving for dumplings recently, which is odd since I've never actually made them before. So I took a look at what I had in my fridge and decided on some chicken and Italian sausage dumplings, with some veggies. Rustic Rabbit with Sage and Pancetta

So I totally benefited from the multiple Borders closings around where I live. I purchased several cookbooks (The French Laundry included), one of which is an Italian cookbook called Il Viaggio di Vetri: A Culinary Journey. I promptly decided I wanted to make pretty much every recipe in here, and so I started with the rustic rabbit and polenta recipe. I have never tried rabbit before, but I was eager to see what it tasted like so I headed over to Eastern Market and picked up a rabbit for pretty cheap.
