I blog all night, I blog all day I blog my bloody life away. The thanks I get are few in deed, I think ill take up smoking weed.
The nights are long and lonely, for my key board, mouse and me. Sometimes I feel like giving up and heading of to sea. Then suddenly, a box pops up, the excitement hard to bear, as my mouse heads to the Corner to see what?s over there. Its only windows live again; they call me all the time, I wish they?d leave me well alone; I?m trying to make this rhyme.
It?s a lonely life, this blogging, So little company, no one seem to understand, the pressures there can be. My wife thinks I?m a nutter, Sometimes I think she?s right, but blogging quite addictive, in the middle of the night.
To all my fellow bloggers, I solute you, one and all, you never shrink from blogging, arms ready to the call. And in the future, years from now, when we?re all dead and gone, I wonder if they?ll sing of us, In some old blogger song.
It?s getting late, or is it early, I?m not so sure these days, This bloggings got me all mixed up, in so many different ways. Its time for me to say fair well I?ll see you all again, until the next time, God bless you all and don?t give up the game.

One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind. Well okay, maybe not. Publishing your first post is highly exciting and it is that first step into the unknown. Most people will tell you to make your writing exciting and remember, your writing for others not yourself. So try to make it worth their while reading it in the first place. First impressions say a lot about someone and if you put some afford into it then you will get the rewards.
Once you have created your blog and are ready to start posting.
On the navbar, that runs a long the top of your blog page you will see the words ?New post? You can click there, or if you prefer you can excess your posts from the dashboard. Dashboard is the page where you will find your blog/s after you sign into your account and click, on the blogger clicklet.

Click posts. This will open your post editor or post page. Then click 'New Post'

Then just start writing your masterpiece in the box provided. You will notice some editing tools. Like spell check, create a link, insert picture. You can have your text in bold or italics and if you know how to, you can add some html code. There are two writing modes within the post edit page. You can choose the compose mode, this will give you more tools to work with, but personally speaking I prefer the edit html mode.
If at some stage you want to add a picture, click on the little icon and you will see this.

If your pic is stored on your pc, then click the browse button. If your pic is stored on the net then enter the URL address. Let us say you had an image you wanted to use from your photobucket account, assuming you have an account. You will need the direct link. Just copy this link, paste it in the web section of the upload page, and click upload.

Once this is complete, you will need to click on the ?done? button. This will then load the image/pic into the post editor page. All you will see at this stage is loads of funny writing. This is quite normal. Its computer talk for whatever your image is.

Just click on the preview button and you will see your image.

You might also want to insert a link, within your text, to some where on the web. Placement of the link is very important. It is a good idea to put it at just the right spot, so that your visitors will know that this link is associated with, such and such, a word/sentences. I.e. ?this is where you can visit my blog.? If you scroll over the words ?my blog?, and highlight them, then click the insert link button.

A small box will open where you can enter the URL of the link. Then press ?OK?
Remember that you can use the preview button as you go a long, just to see how things are looking. When you are finish your post and are happy with it, you can save it as a draft for later, or you can click on your post options and set weather or not you want things like reader comments, or backlinks. You can also choose the date, as is, or change it.

If you want this first post to stay as the first one on your front page/webpage, then just backdate it. Normally what happens when you write new posts, the others get pushed down the page. I have the first post for my, ?BlogTips.Com site? backdated to 2007 because I want it to stay there for a while as a way of introducing myself to new visitors. If I ever get any that is. Well that?s it for now. I hope this has been of some use to you, as you take your first step into the world of blogging. Good luck and May the force be with you.

Hi folks. I wish there was something new to write about, but it seems that everything, that has to be said, has been said already. Finding new material is a pain in the neck. What?s the point, I thought, in writing something that has been covered a million times? What?s the chances of my post, on how to ?hide the navbar?, getting a look in when there are umpteen hundred posts on the same subject? Or how about, ?adding a background image?, now there?s one no one has covered. Ha! What a laugh. What if I could take the navbar and stick it somewhere, where the sun don?t shine. Maybe that would get a few hits. Ah well, such is the world of the weary blogger.
Tips and tricks and all things nice. What?
It seems to me that all the tips&tricks are all used up. Most of the *star* bloggers seem to spend their time answering the same questions over and over again. How do I do this and that? Once and a while something new pops up, a new widget, a quick fix of some sort and before you know it, the whole blogging/help world is hovering over it, like flies around $*%? Sorry if I sound a bit cynical, I?m having a bad life at the moment. I haven?t worked in three years dew to laziness and I?m finding it hard to pass my time.
My wife says I should get a job, ?at my age?? I said, in a shocked voice. Well I am 48 this year. That?s the retirement age in Ireland for lazy bastards.
Some people tell me that I should keep going on??? and not come back. Oh hang on. I just got an email?????. Just my friends at ?windows live? they always drop me an email now and again. They are really nice people over there in ?windows world? I bet you wish you had friend like that, don?t you?
Anyway, what was I talking about? Oh yes, my busy life as a blogger. Links. Now there?s a touchy subject. *Star* bloggers love them, but you just try getting one from them, it?s like getting blood from a stone. They remind me of ?Smeagol? from Lord of the Rings. ?The precious, the links are precious, Smeagol not want to give the links, oh no, Smeagol loves the links.?
?No I?m not listening, the links are mine?
Boy, what I could do with a link. I would take it out every night and feed it and take it for walkies, I think I would call it, something like, linkie, or ?my precious?. I would let everyone know. I would put a big sign above it saying, ?This is my linkie? Then I would go of into the caves and never come back.
Well I think I have cried enough for one night, it?s time I was gone.

I have noticed a lot of the new bloggers, who are trying to edit their html, are having trouble finding where a certain line of code is. I know, from past experience how hard it can be, especially when one is not use to it. It?s like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have set for long periods of time searching through line after line of code, trying to find (&*$?&?*((&^??!fhgjfsjklkl:;?) Trust me, this is what it looks like if you have never seen it before. It?s mad and very confusing. It got me thinking. Maybe there is a better way.
One of the ways that I found to help explain this problem is this. If we think of templates as made up from 3 common elements, that is to say they have an html/xml/ that starts everything, which is basically all the funny writing throughout the template. Next we have the <head>, then the <body> and then everything ends with the </html> tag. Almost all the changes we make to the template will be within the head and body.
Just before the <head> tag/part of the template we will find stuff like style information and scripting. Although these are an important part of our template, understanding them and how they work is not really an issue for now. Most of the changes we will be making will be within the <head>and<body>. Most newbie bloggers simply want to jazz-up their site, with background images, to start of with. Or maybe it can be as simple as adding a Meta tag when verifying their blogsite. Maybe they want to go a bit farther and add another sidebar. Whatever it is, if your not use to it, knowing where to look can be a major pain. The main parts of the template will be laid out like this starting with the
<head> As already stated, most of code before the head, we will not need to worry about for now. If you are adding your Meta tag, it will be placed just after the head like so. Do not include these brackets.
<head> (Meta tag)
When people tell us to add, blah, blah, blah, code to the outer-wrapper or anywhere, remember that all the different sections are labelled and separated with dotted lines like so. So if we are told to add code to a certain place we simply look for the heading label.
body { ------------------------------------------------------- Header ------------------------------------------------------ outer-Wrapper ------------------------------------------------------- Headings -------------------------------------------------- Posts ------------------------------------------------------- Comments ----------------------------------------------------- Sidebar Content --------------------------------------------------- Profile ------------------------------------------------------- Footer ---------------------------------------------------------
Although we can see places in the above code that have (body) in them, these are telling us about parts off the body and not the actually body it?s self. The main body part of the template, below, is what the body parts are and how they are laid out. however, if we change, remove or add code to the above parts, there are times when we will have to change the main body code below, in order to accommodate those changes.
</head> This is where the head ends and the <body> starts. Basically what this part of the template is showing us is the different parts that go together to make our blog (what you see on the layout/main/site page of your site) We have things like.
<body>
outer-wrapper = everything you see below
header-wrapper = things we have in the header
content-wrapper Includes
crosscol wrapper = between your header and posts
main-wrapper = posts and that area.
sidebar-wrapper = things in the sidebar/s area.
contents wrapper ends
Then we have are footer-wrapper = what we have in the footer area.
end outer-wrapper </body> </html> this is the end of the template.
I hope that this is of some use, for those looking for help, on where certain parts of the blogger template code, are to be found.

From time to time you might want to show some code in your post/s and this happens.
() This is supposed to be a line of code, as you can see it just won't show on the post. I went through this problem and in the end I decided to find a solution to it. I found this Handy site online. All you do is enter your code in the box and press, 'process' and the converted code will be generated for you.
So it's a BIG THANKYOU to Dan Cederholm (site owner)

Finding a particular piece of code can be a bit it of a pain especially if your not use to it. Scrolling through all that funny writing and symbols, that looks like gibberish <bc$//>(HELP!)</*{?=?}???? Claptrap, can give you a sore head. If you have a copy of the code you want to add or remove, but can?t seem to find it on the edit html page, then try this. (One line of the code should do)
Click on the code in question with your mouse, right click and copy. Go to your edit html page and click anywhere in the code box. Then press (Ctrl+F) on your keyboard. This will open a search/find window at the bottom of your screen. Paste the code in the space provided and hit find or next. What happens then is the code will be automatically found and highlighted.
