Blog Description: This blog contains music videos and information on artists that I have come across that in my mind have a great musical talent. I enjoy listening to acoustic music, especially acoustic remakes of songs from genres including Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, etc. I have a wide variety of music tastes listening to anything and everything, which is why you can expect a great collection of artists to be posted here.
Sorry about not having any updates in the past week or so. I just traveled back to school from the East coast and have been really busy getting everything in line for this semester along with finding an internship for my degree. Also had some complications with my wisdom teeth surgery come up yesterday so that pretty much sucked. I hope to have a few featured artists in the coming week so stay tuned. Don't forget to subscribe to the RSS feed...its the easiest way to stay up to date with the site.
Brad Skistimas is the solo artist behind Five Times August. He came up with the name Five Times August since he figured his last name was just a little bit too ridiculous (in a good way) to remember. He is releasing his fourth album on 01/15/08 titled, "The Good Life," so he is no stranger to the music scene. Not only has he pumped out four albums but each is filled with great hit songs. This is apparent since songs off his albums have been featured in the first two seasons of the hit MTV show Luguna Beach: The Real Orange County. "The Way You Do" from his most recent album, The Independent, was featured on the CW Television Network's One Tree Hill. Brad did a great cover to a song that my generation grew up on and I just had to post it up. I am sure most of you will know it so I'll just let you listen and find out which song it is.
As I sat down to write this blog post I just let his Myspace player play all the way through. You can't help but to simply enjoy the hell out of his music. He is currently in the #4 spot on Myspace's Top Acoustic Artists list for unsigned artist/bands. This man makes so much content available to his fans its not even funny. You can check out a ton of behind the scenes recording sessions on his Youtube Channel. If your interested in listening to more of his music or checking to see when he will be performing near you soon, check his Myspace. You can purchase his music in a bunch of different places including Walmart. Check out the information list below for all the different spots to support Five Times August. I will leave you with "Better With You," which is one of my favorite songs that he has on his Youtube Channel
I just found some time to create a Myspace page devoted to the Acoustical side of music. I hope this will attract more fans of this genre to the blog which will in turn enlighten them to new artists they may have not come across yet. As well for all the artists I feature hopefully this will help broaden their fan base. Feel free to Add AcousticArtists as your Myspace friend. Don't forget to let all your friends know either.
Well its been a few days since my last post but I am back with a great up and coming duet of two friends. Lauren and Casey are students at Western Carolina University. They both mesh very well together, especially when it comes down to harmonizing in their songs. Lauren is the lead vocalist and Casey holds it down on the guitar. At the moment most of their online material consists of covers but they do have a few original songs posted. According to their Myspace they are currently in the process of writing and producing more original songs and making them available to all of us. They do a great job of incorporating other people in a few of their videos to make their covers a little more original than most covers out there. Here is a cover Lauren and Casey did of Colbie Caillat's song "Realize" using a nice twist with the bongo drums.
I came across a response from them on one of their videos that said they would be trying out for a new upcoming show "Can You Duet." This show is from the creators of American Idol and will be airing this Spring on the CMT network. The site says tryouts are coming up on the 12th of January so hopefully we hear if they made it soon.
I usually just post the contact links within my text but I received a few responses that said it may be better to post the information in more of a list form. As always the Youtube profile will always be available just by clicking on the post title but I will list it below as well. On that note here is a list of different ways you can check up on these ladies (and their music of course)... *Myspace *Youtube
This guy is a real solid acoustic artists. He not only has the skills on the strings but great vocals to go along with it. He just recently released his much anticipated second album titled, "Re-Defining Love." His first album, "Broken Hearts and Fairytales" has been one of the best selling albums on CDBaby.com according to his official site. Almost all of his videos online are his own original music with a cover or two thrown in. He is more on the "love story" side of music but non-the-less it is great music. Here is just one of his many popular songs titled, "If I Were an Artist."
If your interested in Jake Coco check all his videos out on Youtube of course. Jake can also be found on Myspace. If you want to check out everything he has been up too lately check out his official page at JakeCoco.com. If you are interested in purchasing one or both of his CD's you can pick up the CD or MP3 versions over at CDBaby.com.
Just wanted to let everyone know you can now subscribe to this blog via RSS Feeds. I have supplied everyone with the RSS buttons on the left side of this blog. I have also added "Digg This!" and "Share on Facebook" links below each post...this way if any of you all want to share any of these artists with others it is now much easier. This way everyone can stay up to date with the new artists who are featured.
I have also joined Technorati and Blogging Fusion. I suggest both of them if you are interested in finding out about more great blogs out there. You can find these directly following the RSS Feed buttons. I will be posting up another artist sometime today so be sure to check back here or check your feed out!
