RSS Feed Musical Monday #64 - Sonic Boom Boy

In Ye Olde Days of Yore, when an advert came on the television using a cool bit of music, there was no Intarweb in which to "have a Google" and see what it was you heard.  There was that bloke everyone knew that seemed to be a walking, physical version.  Google 0.5 Beta, perhaps.

However, in this here Not So Days of Yore, there IS the Mighty Mighty Google, in which you spam in the advert, add the word "song" to it, and chances are, before you've even thought about asking that bloke you know, the answer is there in front of you.

Which is one other reason I love to Google ;)

Over Christmas, and indeed, the run-up to Christmas, Sony have been running a series of ads with a song that always sticks in my head - I remembered it from my youth (Yes, that far back), and this evening, after hearing it again, I had a quick Google, and Robert's your mothers brother, I have the result.

To be honest, it's such an old song, I don't remember the band, but I like it now.  Westworld - Sonic Boom Boy is probably more likely annoying people up and down the country with it being played so much, but still, it's a great old track.

If a wee bit dated now ;)

RSS Feed Resolutions...

Here's a tradition I really don't understand...  New Years Resolutions

See, as far as I can make out, people make these promises to the new year to stop things that are bad, dirty, unhealthy - whatever - only to crumble after a few days or weeks...  And then the following New Year, they start them all over again.

Quitting smoking, Dieting, Exercising, removing X Y or Z from their lives.  Surely if you wanted to give these things up or make changes to your life, you should do them anyway, not making these outlandish claims while half-tiddled on cheap bubbly, only to change your mind or completely forget the very next day.

To this end - and once again - I am NOT making any resolutions.  Sure, there are things I'd like to do, change, or whatever, but the last thing on my mind while attempting to do Auld Lang Syne without spilling my pint, is whether or not I should quit the triple fried egg with chilli and chutney sandwich each morning with my coffee.

To those of you that HAVE made resolutions, I wish you the best of luck with them.  And for the next five, ten, twenty years when you decide to do the same ones again and again.

If I MUST make one, then I resolve not to be eaten by a shark named Phillip.

RSS Feed Boo Hoo :(

Yesterday, while sitting watching television, the first Cadbury Creme Egg advert came on... Ready for Easter.

January 3rd... Why Oh WHY!  I've not even taken down the f**kin' Xmas Decs yet!!  I'm going to check my local shop in the morning - I know for a FACT they've had their eggs in the store room since Mid-November!  Bet they are on display...

RSS Feed Happy New Year

After what feels like a year, 2008 is finally drawing to a close. I could sit here and detail completely how the year started, all the crap that hit the fan, the recovery and then finding someone so gorgeous they made all the crap previously seem like it never even happened.

But I won't.

See, all that stuff has been covered.  You can read back through the archives and see my rather wobbly road through to the end of this year.

To everyone that has been there for me this year, thank you.  Really, thank you.  The amount of support, help and advice I've had from everyone through everything has been phenomenal, and I am sure that I couldn't have done it without my friends and family behind me.  Those that offered words to help me, words to encourage me, and even someone that called me a stupid twat and to pull myself together, thank you.

But especially, to Kellie.  Thank you.  For putting up with my strangeness, my 0ddness, all my stuff, a massive thank you.  You were there as my friend to start with, and as I was told, you find love when you least expect it.  I didn't expect it, but I am so happy that I found it.

So, 2008 is on it's way out.  In a few short hours, I will become the Incredible Hulk for a fancy dress party (I kid yea not), and then a little while later, a new year starts.

So here's to my family.  Here's to my friends.  Here's to Kellie, and here's to seeing a great New Year in in style!

Happy New Year. Have fun.  Be safe... And have a drink for me!!

RSS Feed Ho Ho Ho!

OK, yes, I've been blogging on and off these last few weeks, but that doesn't stop me from stopping by to wave at all of you (well, prolly both of you by now!) that read 0ddness to wish you all a very very Merry Christmas!

Despite it having been on the calendar for at least the last couple of months, Crimbo seems to have crept up on me.  I've pretty much achieved nothing... Rather, I wouldn't have, were it not for Kellie.  She's been amazing and excellent all rolled into one - while I've been rubbish.

And before anyone asks, I DID get her a gift she will always remember... Sunday morning she woke up with my germs!

Uh Oh!

Let's hope I've not given her the ManFlu lurgy - Christmas Eve is going to be manic... In fact, it's been manic for the last ten days at least, and will continue to be like this until the New Year.  Hence the lack of posting ;)

I don't know what I'd have done without her!

Anyway, to one and all, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas - no matter what you celebrate, worship or anything else - and that you have a great time.

And a final thought for you...  If you take Santas catchphrase of "Ho Ho Ho" and add "Yo" in front of it, Santa suddenly becomes a pirate.

RSS Feed Vitamins

You know what I am getting really fed up with?  People seeing that I am STILL poorly, that I am still coughing, sneezing, spluttering, and they tell me I should take vitamins and eat properly.

Here's the thing.  As a general rule, I DO eat properly.  I certain have my five-a-day in the ways of fruit and veg, and not to mention, on top of that I take Multivitamins & Minerals, AND a Vitamin B Supplement which has extra Vitamin C in it to boot.

I drink pure juice.  I eat fruit.  I eat veg.  To be honest, I hardly buy anything in the way of "snacking" food, junk or whatever.  One, I am losing weight and want to keep it that way.  Two, I don't want the kids to reach out and grab junk when they can grab a banana or something.  Three, to be honest, I can't afford to buy crisps, chocolate, biscuits or whatever...

Lastly, as my doc told me last time I was there with germs, he told me that part of having Chronic Fatigue/ME was being unwell in general.  From the ME Association web page:
Symptoms which suggest on-going abnormalities in immune system function include sore throats, enlarged glands, joint pains, headaches, problems with temperature control and intermittent flu-like feelings.
So it would seem that it's my lot in life ;)
